DISCLAIMER: YATA MISAKI, KUSANAGI IZUMO, AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU RECONIZE DOES NOT BELONG TO ME
Even When My Body is Blue,
My Heart is Red For You
"I hate that guy!" Yata screeched as he walked into the bar. There were a few scratches on his arms, one of which was red with blood. "Kusanagi-san, can I get a bandage or something? The fucking bastard got me. Those fucking nails of his are cheating."
Most of the occupants chose to ignore the outburst but as he plopped down on the bar stool next to him, Shouhei questioned, "Who?"
"No Shouhei don't-" Bandou began, trying to stop him from going any farther.
"Eh? But San-chan I wanna know who Yata hates," Shouhei declared. "Despite how often he gets mad, I don't think I've ever heard Yata talk like that."
"That's because it's impossible for someone to be as irritating as Saruhiko," Yata grumbled, his words muffled by the tape in his mouth as he ripped a piece off. "Fucking asshole using my first name like that."
"Yata-san, you still use his first name too," Kamamoto commented as he walked up to them. He leaned against the bar to grab a rag towel, "So you can't really fault him for doing the same and stop trying to bandage it without cleaning it first."
Yata huffed, turning away as Kamamoto grabbed his arm. "Well at least I'm not a traitor. It irritates the shit out me that he still uses red flames even though he hates us all so much!"
"Well, Fushimi-kun definitely didn't leave with any nice feelings lingering," Kusanagi drawled. He threw a bottle of water at Kamamoto before adding, "But he shouldn't be able to use red flames anymore, you are right. It's not like there's any sort of ceremony for taking a clansman's powers, but considering the nature of red flames using them should burn him if his heart's changed."
"Exactly! It makes no sense since he's become such a cold bastard," Yata declared.
"Yata-san, I'm not sure we know the same Fushimi-san," Kamamoto murmured as he dabbed at Yata's cuts.
Chitose hummed in agreement as he came up behind Shouhei and Bandou, "Fushimi-kun was always cold towards us."
"He was never like that in middle school," Yata grumbled.
"Regardless," Kusanagi declared, "his hearts still in the same place as it was then."
"It's not," Yata argued. He stood up abruptly, smacking Kamamoto away from him. "I'm going to take a nap."
As they watched him stalk away, Shouhei questioned, "Why is Yata-san so upset if he hates him so much?"
Bandou downed the rest of his drink before answering, "Fushimi joined Homra so that he could be with Yata. The two of them were inseparable for a long time."
"And then?"
"And then," Kusanagi drawled, "Yata became one of us and Fushimi didn't. We tried to include him but it wasn't the same. He did the one thing he knew would get him Yata's attention."
"He left Homra, right?" Shouhei questioned, glancing around.
Everyone was tense for a minute before Kusanagi nodded, "He did, but he didn't just leave. Fushimi left and joined Specter 4."
"He burned the mark on his chest too," Kamamoto added. "Yata-san didn't tell us how it happened but I've seen it a few times since I'm usually with him when they bump into each other."
Eric spoke from his seat on the couch with Fujishima, his legs drawn up his chest as the redhead played with a dog he'd found in the street earlier that day, "On his chest? Isn't that were the Chihuahua's mark is?"
Kusanagi gave a bigger smile as he said, "Fushimi might be a blue, but his heart is still with us."
