Hi there. This is my first attempt at a songfic. Im not sure if i have done it right but i like it anyway.
This stroy is inspired by the song "Hiding my heart away" which was covered by Adele on her latest Album.
I dont own the song, i dont own the character, you get the jist.
Enjoy.
This is how the story went,
I met someone by accident,
Who blew me away, blew me away.
And it was in the darkest of my days,
When you took my sorrow and you took my pain,
And buried them away, buried them away.
I wish I could lay down beside you,
When the day is done.
And wake-up to your face against the morning sun.
But like everything I've ever known,
You'll disappear one day,
So I spent my whole life hiding…
My heart away.
Morning sunlight streamed into the room and Gwen was woken up by the gentle breeze that brushed past her cheek. She did not open her eyes, but remained still, feeling the softness of the sheets on her skin and the warm body lying next to her. It was odd. She could not remember going to sleep beside anyone. But she wasn't frightened. It was as if she had woken up to this many times before. There was something very familiar about that body, and this bed. For this place was not the one she had just left own, but it was one she knew very well. She opened her eyes and saw the open window, with the tops of houses peeking over the ledge, and the dark trees of the forest beyond. Rich red tapestries adorned the walls and draped around the bed. An arm stretched around her waist and pulled her close into his chest. She smiled and snuggled into his gentle embrace, wishing that she could be woken up like this every day. His chest rose and fell, and she felt his head nuzzled into her neck. She loved it when he did that.
"Good morning." He mumbled.
"Yes, it is." She replied.
He laughed and twisted her around to face him.
His bright blue eyes were still half asleep and his sandy blond hair was a mess upon his pillow… their pillow. He grinned at her and she felt her heart flutter in her chest.
"Did you sleep well?" she asked.
He reached out his hand to tuck a stray curl behind her ear, then said "I always do when I'm with you."
"Then, you're very lucky to have me."
He grinned again and said, "You have no idea."
They lay there together for a moment and she closed her eyes again, taking in the smell of him. The bird on the window was chirping, telling them that it was time for the day to begin.
"Do you hear the bird, Arthur?" she asked.
When he didn't reply she said again, "Arthur?"
Gwen opened her eyes and the sun and the red had disappeared. The sheets were no longer soft and warm, but thick and rough. There was no body beside her and the birds song was moving further and further away. It had never been real. It had been only a dream. She was not waking up beside her prince, but instead she was alone. And after the comfort of her dream, she had never felt more lonely. Arthur had never seemed more distant to her. He had disappeared on her again, and she knew that she would have to keep hiding her heart… at least for another day
Thanks for reading. This was just a quick one to tide me over before the end of semester. If you enjoyed this please have a look at some of my others. Cheers!
