This is the story of the silent girl. In the beginning she was a mermaid. On her 15th birthday she finally was ready to begin the way of the mermaids, luring men to their deaths. But that night when her eyes fell upon a man, something happened inside her. Something stopped her natural instinct to kill. So when his ship crashed instead of pulling him into the deep, she saved him.
After that the man haunted her every time she closed her eyes. The mermaid was in love. She had her tongue cut out in order for legs from a seas witch, to find the man that she rescued. So in love that when every step she took felt like she was walking on knives, the pain didn't bother her. For she found him in this world beyond the sea, they kissed and laughed and everything seemed perfect. But then one night her Prince said he would never love her.
So the silent girl stood beside her Prince. She was heartbroken but yet still being with him made it all right. Then he met her, his true love. The prince announced they would marry, only weeks after the initial meeting. The silent girl was devastated. She left everything behind for him, and now she was holding the wedding gown train of his bride. The silent girl danced till her feet bled and thought about what was left for her.
The sea witch warned leg enchantment would only hold up as long as he didn't marry another. If not she would die a slow painful death and become sea foam. The process had already begun, and the silent girl could no longer block out the pain inside her with love. However the sea witch mentioned that if she killed the prince she would be saved.
The silent girl than took a knife and went to the princes room in the dead of night. As she raised the knife above her head, something happened inside her. That same thing that had stopped her from killing him before, which now seemed life time's ago. Tears rolling down her face she kissed her and his new wife and bid them goodbye. The silent girl went to the balcony; she stared out into the sea. But when she raised the knife above her head readying to plunge it into her belly she heard a voice.
The voice called her dearie. She turned around and saw a very strange man. The silent girl had never seen him. He told her he came to see her, after he heard stories of a mermaid he came ashore as a woman. The strange man knew she was dying and made an offer. He would take her heart out of her, which would rid her of pain and her impending death. The silent girl nodded all she wanted was relief. So he reached in her chest and took her heart. Now the pain was gone and the silent girl was happy.
She did not know what she had just done of course. How was the silent girl to know the value of a mermaid heart and what you could do if you possessed a heart? The silent girl now heartless left the castle and in the morning searched the port for a ship. She found a ship captained by a man named Killian Jones. So off she sailed into the vast horizon towards the start of a new story.
