"If this sunrise could calm me.." Ash was up watching the sunrise, during the early hours of the morning, from a high tree branch. He kept thinking back to the rivalry between himself and Gary, the only person he was ever jealous of. He tried to think about how things would turn out if they were friends instead of enemies, but he just couldn't see it happen. He just couldn't help feeling jealous of Gary, the reasons why were unknown to him.

"One of these days, I'll show him.." Oh, how Ash longed to make Gary jealous of him, but there were things that he could tell no one but those who witness the events for themselves. Ash longed to tell Gary in his face that there wouldn't be any life left on Earth if it weren't for him. He longed to tell Gary that he met Celebi, Suicune, Entei, Lugia, Slowking and other legendary Pokemon, but he can't. Every time, he'd just choke on his words. Why he was afraid to tell him, he didn't know. And it angered him. He elbowed the trunk of the tree he was leaning on, thankful no Pokemon lived in the tree trunk.

"Geez, why can't I say anything to him?!" He was unaware that there was a large group of Shuppet in the lower branches of the tree he was in, feeding on his jealousy and anger, loving every bit of it. One of them, the black Shuppet, rose up above the rest and into Ash's view.

"Shup, shuppet pet." He just shrugged. He knew what was going to happen and was the only way he knew of controlling his rage. He was too used to it. Plus that, he made a deal with them. "Go right ahead, Shuppet." He looked into the eyes of the black Shuppet, which hypnotized him into sleep. His arms and legs hung to either side of the branch and his head was supported by the trunk of the tree.

"Shuppet, shup shuppet!" The Shuppet, out of hunger, started going up the tree and surrounded the sleeping Ash. The eyes of the Shuppet started to glow a rainbow of dark colors, causing Ash to become surrounded by a black aura and mist, his rage, hatred and jealousy. His hair started to glow a whitish gold as well as emit a whitish mist. The Shuppet started to breathe in the black mist around him, while the black Shuppet, the one Ash made the deal with, started to breathe in on the white mist, his dark dreams. All the while, even as he slept, he could feel a burden being lifted of his chest for at least today. After an hour, Brock started calling for Ash, since breakfast was now ready. The Shuppet had by that time left only small amounts of the two mists, which went back into Ash, knowing that it would multiply again and they would have another grand feast. Their eyes stopped glowing, allowing Ash to wake up from his slumber.

"Done already?" Ash was feeling much more cheerful after that. The black Shuppet nodded, then led the gang away. He climbed down from the tree and heard a sigh from Misty when he reached the bottom.

"The Shuppet again? Ash, what's wrong with you?" Ash just smirked.

"Hey, if it weren't for the Shuppet, you would be dead now." Misty growled.

"But that doesn't mean that you become their meal, Ash." Ash's stomach started growling at that comment.

"Speaking of meal, where's breakfast?" Brock smirked as he shook his head, dishing out bowls of beef stew for himself, Ash and Misty while giving Pikachu and Togepi their bowls of Pokemon food.
