A/N: This idea came to me after reading a writing prompt. It's just something small. Woo! 20 stories up before my birthday! I made my goal! Some fluff for Kydam. :)

"What might come from the mouths of babes? Write a humorous piece of fiction where a baby's first word is a little surprising."

I was shocked when I heard the word escape from her mouth. Sure, she's said "Ma," and "Da" before, but she hasn't sad any real words yet. Until this morning. I woke up at 6 AM to my daughter crying in her crib. So naturally, I picked her up and brought her out into the kitchen, and set some cheerios on her high chair for her.

I've been trying to get her to say Mommy, or Momma for quite some time now, but I've failed miserably. And just when I am about to give up on Gaby ever being able to talk, she picks up a cheerio, bites into it, and let's out a soft giggle. "Oscar!" she yells, throwing a cheerio on the ground. Oscar, our miniature dachshund comes hurrying into the kitchen at the sound of a cheerio hitting the floor.

"Oscar," Gaby says again, clapping her hands. She throws another cheerio on the ground, which Oscar eagerly picks up, and chews. I'm too surprised to even stand up. Usually, I yell at Gaby for feeding the dog, and I shoo Oscar out of the kitchen. But I'm in awe with the fact my baby's said her first word.

"Adam!" I manage to yell, standing up from the kitchen table. I hurry back to our bedroom where my fiancé is sleeping with no shirt on, his mouth wide open, tiny snores escaping from his mouth, and his hand over his chest. "Adam," I say again, sitting on his chest.

"Ouch," he mumbles, slowly opening his eyes. "Kylie why the fuck are you sitting on me?"

"You can't curse anymore," I inform him a grin on my face as I stand up. I grab his hands and try to pull him up. "Gaby might pick up on those words."

"Kales, Gaby is only 9 months. She's not gonna be talking for a while," Adam mumbles trying to crawl back into bed. He glances at the alarm clock on his bedside which reads 6:23. "This is too early for me."

"Gaby is talking!" I tell him, pulling him back up. "Get your sorry ass out of bed!"

"You're dreaming," Adam mumbles. "Go back to bed."

"Adam," I laugh, sitting on him again. "Gaby just said Mommy."

"No she didn't," Adam laughed standing up. "Let me hear then."

"Okay she didn't say Mommy, but she said her first word. Come on! Come listen."

"Alright," Adam groans, finally pulling his pants on to head into the kitchen, my arms eagerly pulling him.

"Oscar," Gaby says again throwing the rest of er cheerios on the ground.

"Oh my God," Adam says, stopping to stare at our baby girl. "She just said Oscar."

"I told you!" I say, sticking my finger in his face, which he swats away. I snake my arms around his neck, and give him a kiss. "She's a genius."

"She's awesome," Adam agrees, kissing me again before walking towards Gaby to give her a kiss. "Hi sweetie," he smiles, pressing a kiss to her nose, causing her to giggle.

She picks up a cheerio and shoves it in his mouth. "Daddy."
