"Undyne! Come to bed! I'm tired!" Alphys whined. The reptile sprawled out on the bed and pretended to be falling asleep. Undyne reluctantly got up, and turned the TV off. She was studying what she believed to be 'human history', when in all reality it was just anime. Undyne longed to be like those girls: tough, powerful, never backing down, and never wavering. This is why she trained so much, to emulate what she saw. She pushed her physical limitations until their breaking point. She stopped and stared into space, taking in what she just saw. She got lost in her own head, imagining fights against foes of great power, in which she managed to become victorious. Alphys broke her out of her daydreams by once again calling her to bed. The little reptile was more naturally touchy-feely than Undyne, but Undyne didn't mind. She hopped into bed and threw her arms around Alphys, and smothered her with affection. Alphys blushed and melted into the warm embrace of her girlfriend.

"Hey, can you read me a story? I love when you read things to me…" Alphys asked. Undyne smiled and grabbed her favorite book off the bedside table, "Batman and Robin." The couple had read it a million times. Opening to where they last left off, Undyne read, while her girlfriend curled up next to her. Undyne was warm, and smelled like flowers. Focusing on her girlfriend's soothing voice, Alphys started to doze off. She had stopped herself from falling fully asleep however. She wanted to savor cuddling with her girlfriend for a few moments more.

Undyne stopped reading and stared back into the reptile's eyes. She smiled softly, and planted a kiss Alphys' forehead. "Baby… Tell me what our life is going to be like when we get to the surface…" She suggested.

"Well…" Undyne began, "we are going to have a big house together, right by a lab. Its going to be the most beautiful house that ever was. Not because of how grand it looks, but because we're going to live in it and its going to be filled with so much love. We'll decorate it however we want, and we can invite our friends over and we can have cook outs and parties…" Undyne's head was filled with vivid images of this perfect future. "And every night, we can fall asleep in each other's arms and wake up looking into each other's eyes. And, if the human doesn't delay, it isn't that far away. Soon, we can be free and together forever…" Undyne held her girlfriend closer to her. "How does that sound sweetie?"

Alphys smiled. "That sounds perfect." She looked up and kissed Undyne, who kissed her back. Nothing could've been more perfect. They had each other, and the promise of a better future seemed to be right around the corner. A few minutes later, Alphys fell asleep, Undyne holding her tightly from behind.

Alphys woke up at her desk in the lab. Stacks of papers from different experiments surrounded her, a feeling of familiarity, a déjà vu, was in the air. Something showed up on her screen. A human! There was finally a human! However, she seemed to recognize the human. But when she tried to think of where she knew the human from, she drew a blank. Because of this, she felt a sadness she couldn't shake off. The timeline had been reset, and Alphys was back to square one.
