Static and Gear got ready to leave when they heard that a new gang of meta- humans was trashing city hall.

"Rich, hurry up!" Virgil yelled impatiently as his friend stumbled while trying to get his costume on.

"Go ahead V. I'll catch up!" The instant Richie finished his sentence, Virgil flipped open his metal board, hopped on and flew away.

As Richie, struggled to get his costume on, he felt like something was happening. Something bad. So without his costume, Richie slipped on his helmet and flew away

Once, Richie arrived at city hall, he was confused at what he was seeing. There was a big crowd around what he guessed was Virgil and a camera crew filming whatever was happening.

Richie couldn't see what was happening so he went closer. To his surprise he saw static fighting some new meta-human.

'Why isn't someone helping him?' Richie thought to himself furiously. The life was being sucked out of his best friend and Dakota's best superhero, yet no one dared to even raise a finger.

Time passed by slowly, Virgil felt himself getting weaker by the moment, and then he saw Richie. He wanted to yell for his help but alas nothing came out. He saw something running towards him.

"Rich" Virgil managed to utter out. Suddenly he felt the drainage lighten up.

"Virgil!" Richie yelled out. Soon regretting it, as people talked amongst themselves.

He flew towards his friend stumbling onto the pavement. He heard the newswoman mumble something to the cameraman, but he paid no attention. Richie ran into the red light that enveloped his friend and new enemy. As Richie fell to the ground, his helmet smashed revealing to the public his true identity.

Virgil felt a release of power. He turned and shocked the man who quickly darted away. He glanced around and saw all the people standing in awe watching him.

As Virgil looked down he saw Richie's broken body on the ground. He stared at him before running into the alley right in front of him. He didn't want his last moments with Richie to be as Static.

"Virgil!" Richie cried as he watched him leave.

Quickly he changed, and ran back to Richie as the camera crew and all the people surrounded the young boy.

"Get away from him!" Virgil yelled, tears burning the brim of his eyelids. "Go!" The people walked away in silence as they were feeling a bit of sorrow for the young boy. The newswoman finished her story and walked away also.

Virgil dropped to Richie's side. He wanted to cry but settled for a few tears.

"Virg." Richie whispered as a few tears fell down his cheeks. "Virg. Tell my mom I love her and tell your dad I'm sorry bout the window. I was going to pay him back." Richie began to drift, his eyelids feeling heavy.

"Rich! Don't leave me alone. I can't do this stuff without you." Virgil began to let his tears fall; he didn't care about his rep anymore. He held his friend up his arms, hoping he wouldn't leave

"V. You can do it. You're the superhero. I love you man. Be strong." And with his last ounce of life he uttered "Remember, it's okay for superheroes to cry..." as his eyes closed, his last breath slipped out, and Richard Folley left his best friend, in the cold streets of Dakota.

"Richie!" He cried out at the top of his lungs. Virgil buried his head in his friend's green sweater, as he brought him closer to his body.
