I've very excited about this story. Please Review and enjoy!
Severus stepped into Dumbledore's office slowly. He had no idea what was going on. He'd done nothing especially cruel to his students; he'd completed all of his assignment for the Order. He couldn't be given more because everyone at Hogwarts was under barricade due to the imminent threat of Voldemort. That left pretty much no topic of conversation between the two. That was, unless Dumbledore's was just in the mood for a friendly chat. Severus generally wasn't the one who most people desired for a conversation partner though. "Canary Creams," the man muttered as the gargoyle jumped from its perch.
"Well hello Severus," Dumbledore said, a huge smile on his face.
"Hello sir," Severus replied giving the old man an odd look. He must have gone batty.
"Yes, yes, sit down my friend," the old man pointed at one of the chairs in front of his desk. "I have something very important that I wish to discuss with you." Severus nodded and Dumbledore continued. "Well, as you and I well know, your times at Hogwarts were not the most wonderful you ever had," he paused to look at Severus over his wired glasses.
"Yes, what's your point?"
"Well, I have a way that would make those bad memories completely transform into good memories. Of course it's entirely illegal but I was never one to care about laws now was I?" Severus looked at him even more strangely.
"What are you talking about?" Dumbledore drew out a small picture of a girl. She had cropped, black hair and big, brown eyes. She looked very Italian to him. "Yes, who is she and what does she have to do with me."
"Well she hasn't anything to do with you yet, but if I go through with my plans she'll become a very important part of your life. Her name is Marina Ferilli. She lives in England and is very much in danger. You see, she's probably one of the most powerful witches of the century, possibly in all of history. She has mastered, by herself, the art of wandless magic. Unfortunately, she has never received any proper training. Now you and I both know that without learning the basics, one has no chance of winning against Lord Voldemort. We also know that now is not the time to learn the basics with all that is going on."
"Get to the point Professor," Severus said testily.
"Alright, alright, keep your panties out of a twist. My plan is to send her back in time, to your time, to learn magic there where the treat of Lord Voldemort doesn't exist."
"That's ludicrous!"
"Yes, we all know my plan is crazy, but is it crazy enough to work? You see, if she befriends you then she could fall in love with you. It could alter your entire life as a Death Eater. She could also defeat Voldemort with all of the power she has. Now I've already discussed it with her. She's lead a very hard life and wants no part of this present time. I've also talked with my past self and he agrees with me that this is just crazy enough to work. Really, the only reason I called you here was to tell you that your life may be completely altered very soon. You won't remember it however for it will have always been this way. Anyway, the plan is going to commence this evening. I don't want you there just because, well, never mind."
"What year will she be joining?"
"Fifth, she's fifteen. Now Professor, I believe you have classes to teach. Goodbye." Severus left in a daze wandering toward his NEWT's potions class that included Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Ron Weasley and the rest who were able to get the grades required for his class (Potter and Weasley were in because of Dumbledore's insistence).
~Later that night in the Room of Requirement~
"So Professor, I'm supposed to befriend Severus Snape?"
"Yes Marina, here's a picture of him," Dumbledore handed her a picture.
"He looks a bit troubled."
"He was, made fun of by pretty much everybody including his parents. He will, however, be able to teach you quite a bit about potion making and other magical stuffs in general. I also think that somewhere inside of him, he has a good heart."
"I don't doubt it. As you know, I really think very highly of most people. Now about my things. You said I need to learn magic with a wand?"
"Yes, I have your things in this trunk. Now I'm confident that you're ready for fifth year with the bit of training I've done with you. First, when you get to Hogwarts, go straight to my office. My past self is there and I've already briefed him on what's going on. Good luck dear, and thank you." She nodded.
"How many turns?"
"That's an annual time turner so twenty five turns should do it." She gave a wave and Dumbledore handed her the magically weightless trunk. She had donned black robes. She began to turn the time turner twenty four times and gave one last look at Dumbledore. He nodded warmly and she turned it the last time. With that last smile she vanished. He breathed a sigh and began to walk back to his office. "Good luck Marina my dear," he murmured.
Marina fell down from the dizziness she was feeling but soon recovered. The room of Requirement had changed slightly in its decor with maps of Hogwarts, pillows everywhere, books on Animagis, charms and spells taking up most of the floor and wall space. She heard student's voices. "That's odd, it's the middle of the night," she whispered to herself. They opened the door and she ducked behind a chair.
"Did you see the look on old Snivley's face?" a boy with messy black hair asked.
"It was so great! I'm half tempted to do it again tomorrow," another boy with long-ish, equally black hair laughed.
"I think we should go back to Gryfindor Tower," another boy with short, blond hair murmured.
"Ah Moony, you take the fun out of life."
"Yeah, well, you know how Peter is when he gets left out of things. He's liable to go and tell Oldenburg."
"Remus is right Sirius, we should go." Marina breathed a sigh of relief as they moved out the door. She picked up her trunk and scurried down the hall. She knew the way to Professor Dumbledore's office if nothing had changed. She was half way there when an old man jumped out at her.
"What's a little student like yourself doing out so late with her trunk?" he growled.
"I-I'm looking for Professor Dumbledore's office," she murmured. "I'm a new student and just got here."
"Fine, I'll take you there." It was obvious that he didn't trust her but she followed him none-the-less. They got to the gargoyle and the old man barked "Sugar Quills." The gargoyle jumped aside and the two stepped on to the winding staircase.
"Hello Osric. Is this the new student I've been expecting?"
"Yes sir."
"Thank you, that will be all. Just leave Ms. Ferilli here with me." Osric nodded and left.
"Who was that?"
"Our caretaker, Osric Oldenburg. So you're Marina Ferilli from the future?"
"Yes sir, and you're Dumbledore from the past?"
"Why yes," the slightly less old man nodded. "Now we have to sort you then you'll spend the night in the hospital wing before we can situate you in your room tomorrow. Was it a Friday when you left?"
"No it was a Wednesday I think."
"Well it's a Friday this year. Now, let's get you sorted. You must be exhausted." He took the old hat from its perch and brought it down. "Sit in that chair," he pointed at a wingback in front of his desk. She obeyed. He set the hat on her head.
"Well, this is interesting. You'd really do well in any number of houses. I think though, that you're most becoming quality is your intellect so I'll have to say Ravenclaw." Dumbledore took the hat off her head. "I figured as much. Now let me escort you to the Hospital Wing." She followed him down the cavernous halls.
"Hogwarts hasn't changed much then," she said.
"I don't imagine so. Hogwarts changes very seldom. So, have you trained at all in wand magic?"
"Yes, a little. I'm supposed to find Severus Snape to get me up to scratch."
"Aw yes, I remember me saying that. I will set up a tutoring type of thing between the two of you." Dumbledore smiled softly. "We're here," he stopped and they pushed the doors open simultaneously. Madame Galena came from her office. "I have a new student who needs to spend the night in here before she can be situated in her dormitory tomorrow," he said simply. Galena nodded and smiled at Marina who was a might bit shorter then the tall, tan woman.
"Where is Madame Pomphrey?" she said without thinking.
"She is away at the moment dear. Do you know her?"
"A bit, yes," Marina saved herself. "Well come along now. Goodnight Headmaster." Galena lead Marina to a bed at the very back. "You may spend the night here. Do you have a name?"
"Yes, Marina Arella Ferilli."
"Well, goodnight Ms. Ferilli, call me if you need anything." Marina nodded and drifted off to sleep in the soft bed. She was awakened by the sun pouring in from the adjacent window. She stretched and found that Galena had magically changed her robes, jeans, and t-shirt into pajamas. She tossed her legs over the side of the bed and stood up. Galena was already up and tending to a boy in the bed at the end of the hall. She walked over to the woman. "Excuse me Madame Galena, where is the bathroom?"
"Oh good morning Ms. Ferilli, the bathroom is down there," she pointed to a door at the end of the hall. Marina nodded and returned to her bed and collected some cloths and her hair brush. She stepped into the bathroom and took a quick shower. After which she magically brushed and tied her hair half-way back. She pulled on a red sweater, jeans, flip- flops and robes which now bore the Ravenclaw seal. She surveyed herself in the mirror. It was a very nice effect she thought.
She walked out into the Hospital wing, still buttoning her the front clasp of her robes. Galena had set her trunk at the door. "The house elves will take your trunk to your dorm and you may go to the Great Hall for breakfast." Marina nodded and walked to the Great Hall which only had a few students inhabiting it due to the early hour. She noticed that the boy from the picture, Severus Snape, was one of them. Dumbledore was beckoning her toward the Head table. She walked up and felt the eyes of Severus on her back.
"This is Marina Ferilli," he said to the two Professors sitting next to him. "Marina, this is Professor McGonagall, our new Transfiguration teacher, and Professor Badeau, DADA teacher."
"Hello," Professor McGonagall said.
"Hello Marina, please, call me Heloise."
"Ms. Ferilli is an expert in wandless magic."
"Really? That's amazing!" Heloise exclaimed, sitting up straighter in her chair. "Can you really?"
"Yes, unfortunately, that's pretty much all I can do. I'm not great shots with a wand. Professor Dumbledore said that he'd arrange for Severus Snape to help me though."
"That's a good choice. Severus is a very good student," Professor McGongall nodded.
"Speaking of Mr. Snape, I think I'll call him up here," Dumbledore mumbled to himself. "Mr. Snape," he shouted. "Would you please join us for a moment." The boy nodded and came up to join the party.
"What is it Professor?"
"This is Marina Ferilli, a new student. I was hoping you'd agree to tutor her till she gets up to scratch."
"Of course Professor. Where and when should we meet?" Severus didn't look at her.
"Every evening at 6:00 in my office. You of course, will be academically credited for your help."
"It would be my pleasure. What house is Ms. Ferilli in?"
"Ravenclaw," Marina answered. "Thank you Severus, it means a lot." She held out her hand. He shook it and a tingle was felt by the two.
