The first time my husband and I fought, we were both only nineteen. Our relationship was going as good, just like a fairytale. We were like flowers dancing in the wind. Everything we did, we did together. We committed ourselves to each other, and to making one another happy. That was, until I asked him a particular question. We had been married for eighteen months now, and we were as happy as can be. Until that happened….
'Tick! Tock!' Our old grandfather clock echoed through the halls. 'Ding! Dong! Ding! Dong!'It's four o'clock. My husband, Edward will be home any minute now. Today his sister Emily found out she was pregnant, and she is only sixteen. She was underaged and drinking about 2 months ago with her boyfriend Jacob (Jake). She doesn't know how to tell Jacob, so she called me. This is precisely what happened…
Eyes on Fire by Blue Foundation started ringing, and I instantly knew Emily was calling, so I answered.
"Hello, Masen residence speaking," I said into the phone.
"Bella, is that you," Emily frantically asked into her end of the line.
"Yes, it's Bella. What's wrong Emily," I questioned worriedly.
Emily took a deep breath and whispered,"I think I'm pregnant."
"Oh my goodness, when did you find out," I screamed into the phone.
"This morning, I think. I don't know…can you come over," she was crying into the phone.
"Of course! I'll come over as soon as your brother gets home," I answered quickly, "Actually, he's pulling in right now, Em. We'll be right there."
"Please don't tell him, I want to tell Jake first," she pleaded.
"Of course, why don't you call and have Jacob come over," I said calmly, trying to sooth her.
"Good idea Bella, I'll text him right now. Bye, love ya," she said, calmer now that I had offered an alternative to telling Jake.
"Love you too, Em," I said over the dead line.
I snatched up my purse and sprinted to the door. Jacket, purse, and shoes in hand, I made sure to lock the door behind me. I launched myself at Edward. Thankfully, he was used to my clumsiness and caught me.
"What's wrong, love," he asked. Edward grabbed my shoulders and steadied my stumbling.
"Tell…you…on...the...way," I said, breathless. I grabbed his wrist and tried, with all my might, to pull him to the car.
"What's so important that I can't change out of my work clothes," he said, still standing in the spot in which he had caught me.
"Important," I took a deep breath, "Emily."
Okay, so now Edward went into overprotective mode, and instead of me trying to pull him to the car, he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. Edward opened the driver's side door and tossed me into the seat next to him.
"Ouch," I whimpered like a hurt puppy.
"Oops," he started the car, "Sorry," he muttered as we flew backwards out of the driveway and spun the car around.
I looked over at his face only to see him staring at the road in front of us, hands clenched into fists around the steering wheel. I saw the trees whiz past us in a flurry of green and brown, and unwillingly, I glanced at the speedometer.
"Slow down," I screeched in fear as we went airborne when he sped over the next hill, blowing through a stop sign.
When he didn't respond, or even slow down a bit, I yelled,"Edward Anthony Masen, slow this car down right now! Emily is not going to die!"
This caused the speedometer to go from 100 mph to 45 mph in two seconds. He yelled over the sputtering engine,"But you said, 'Important,'" He took a deep breath, "'Emily,'" his perfect velvety voice mimicked mine.
"I said important, not that she was going to die. Though you might end up killing her," I said sarcastically.
