There was nothing but the dark, I was engulfed by a blanket of hollowness, there was nothing around me, no sound to fill my ears, no light to guide my way, yet something seemed to break the silence

Where am I? How did I get here? What happened? It was only pitch black, there was nothing but the blinding darkness, and I could not even tell if my eyes were closed or it was just zero visibility. I felt something drop on my forehead, it was ice-cold, but my body ceased to flinch.

It hurts to breathe, there was a deep wound on my chest, and it was not properly bandaged, I could feel my blood dribble on my side to the hard ground. The tips of my weak fingers felt the damp surface below me, and a small amount of water filled the crevices of my fingers…or was it blood?

Tears? Drops of tears fell on my cheeks and I know it was tears since a drop or two managed to trail to the edge of my slit lips, but whose? I wanted to open both of my eyes yet a damp cold cloth landed on my eyes, then found its way to my forehead…Everything was just blurry, but I could manage to see a moving creature on my top-right, it was unclear, and it was too bright, so bright that it was blinding…blinking once or twice somehow helped, yet I could not make up who was the person beside me. There was just a blurry image of a mass of brown hair. My elbows supported my weight but it was a large mistake, the blood only flowed faster and it has sent pangs of sharp pain due to my wound's exposure to the cold.

Can it be? Is she who I think it is…I wanted to open my eyes but everything just seemed to be blurry once again, and it was worse this time, it seems that it got a little darker, I allowed my body to rest but my mind ceased to find itself idle. Are my eyes not opened? I have blinked several times now and I perfectly know that I kept them opened after every reflex, my sight turned darker and darker, as if my whole world was being snatched away from me. Blinding Darkness, before I thought it was just an expression by us Bookmen to describe a really gruesome event or a traumatic one, but now, it was, after all, real, and it was true of what they said, you feel so lost that you are desperate even to die…am I now blind?...
