I can see clearly now, but this isn't how it's meant to be,

'Sometimes I just watch you to see if you're still there'.

Sometimes she watched her. She couldn't help it, first it just started off by accident, she saw her one day and just couldn't move, the moment she saw them, she couldn't stay away so she watched them from her park bench, from afar.

They were at the local park when she first saw them, her estranged family, Kate was spreading down a blanket on the grass while her little blonde boy tried to climb a small tree – he was so much like her in nature.

She sat on a bench and watched them, the toddler ran towards the swing set yelling for his mommy to follow him and Kate was there in less than a second for him, with a smile on her face.

'Push me mommy'! He cried happily and Kate laughed as she watched him swing his legs and squeal in delight. She watched as Kate scooped her son into her arms and whispered something into his ear that made his whole world light up and he laughed with excitement, she lowered him to his feet and he enthusiastically ran to the picnic blanket and fidgeted impatiently as Kate walked toward him with a big grin.

'Mommy! Where is he'? He called out impatiently. When she reached him, she settled him down with a few words and a juice box.

Kate was a natural at this; well she was doing a better job at it than the woman on the bench ever did. As if on cue her hero from the crash snook up on them and the little toddler jumped on him.

'Daddy'! The child shrieked with delight. Dr. Shepherd, the man who said he wasn't in love with the woman's daughter lifted the small boy up and hoisted him onto his shoulders.

'Hey, Aaron'. He greeted playfully, then he turned his attention to Kate.

The blonde woman on the park bench watched in awe.

Aaron. I like that name. Aaron. My grandson.

Then she thought bitterly.

Why wouldn't she let me see him? Or meet him? Katherine always held grudges. Couldn't she see that I had reason to call for the Police? She murder my husband in cold blood and got away with it. How is that just?

The Doctor leaned in toward her and kissed her tenderly. They look so in love, Diane mused. I used to have that before she took that away from me.

'How's Jack junior'? He teased.

'I'm not pregnant'. She groaned with mock annoyance.

He gently caressed her stomach with a huge grin on his face and whispered something into her ear that earned him a playful bat on the the arm.

In another life Diane would go over to them and have lunch with them, in some twisted second dimension her daughter's son would know who she was and call her 'Nana', but not in this life.

She watched from a distance as Aaron grew, as well as Kate's stomach and her family. Family. In another life she was apart of it. But not here, and not in this life.

But from time to time she watched her just to see if she was still there.

I wrote this a while ago, so what do you think? I know it's kinda crappy-ish but please tell me what you think?
