2 AM

Arthur was enjoying an amazing dream when he was interrupted by the annoying buzz being emitted by his cell phone. He took one glance at the caller ID through half open eyelids and was instantly enraged. "Alfred, this is the fifth time this week! Do you even realize what time it is? Two. In the morning. I realize that over in D.C it's only nine o' clock, but you've really got to be more considerate of other people's time zones!" Arthur took another deep breath to continue scolding him, but paused when he heard a sniffle. "Alfred? What's wrong?" Arthur's tone changed from annoyance to worry in a matter of half a second.

"I watched another scary movie and now I can't sleep!" Alfred whined. The Brit rolled his eyes, but sighed, sitting up in bed. He knew that he wouldn't be going to sleep until that bloody American git was calmed down.

"Look, you've got to stop watching those movies before bed. You know what they do to you."

"I know…But they're so good!" That earned yet another eye roll from Arthur. "Mattie wouldn't answer when I called, I'm sure as hell not calling that pervert Francis, and I knew that you would be the only one that would pick up the phone!"

"Alright, alright. Look, I'll stay up with you until you fall asleep." Arthur got up to get a cup of tea, knowing he would need it if he would be staying up with Alfred. "Where's Tony? Shouldn't he be there with you?"

"He disappeared somewhere. I'll go look for him later," the younger American said, sounding much better now that he had someone to talk to.

Sipping at his tea, Arthur sat on his rocking chair and, holding the phone in between his ear and shoulder, picked up his knitting materials. "What movie were you watching?" he asked.

"Shutter Island. It was sooooo freaky!" Alfred then went into a long explanation of the movie, which Arthur really wasn't paying attention to. He just made the occasional "mmhm" noise, which seemed to satisfy Alfred.

Two scarves later, Arthur heard Alfred try to stifle a yawn. "I think you should try to go back to sleep now." By now, sunlight was peeking through the blinds, Arthur noticed.

"Yeah, you're probably right…It's already 1 AM over here," Alfred yawned again.

"Well, goodnight," Arthur said, getting ready to hang up.

"Goodnight…Or I guess over there, good morning," Alfred chuckled. "And Arthur?"

"Yes?" he sighed once again.

"Thanks."

This is my very first Hetalia fic, so please go a little easy. I know it's just a short little one-shot, but I was bored and uninspired with my other stories-both published and not-and I just kinda went with whatever I could think of. Hopefully my other one-shots will be better.

I found a cool list of prompts, so there will be more one-shots like this. They will all probably be either friendship or romance with some humor, and they'll all be Arthur-England/Alfred-America. If you think you're interested, just add me to your 'author alerts' so that you'll know when I post a new one up.

Thanks very much for reading, and please review to tell me what you think.
