Naruto hugged the lost fox closer to him. Rain kept pouring down as they waited out the storm in a cave.
When Naruto had gone to the forest to get away from Konoha's citizens, he'd found a fox kit crying pitifully. He'd wanted to find the kit's parents but then the rain had started.
Naruto soothed the little fox when a loud clap of thunder rang out. It calmed down in his arms.
After finding the animal he'd decided to watch over it for a while. Someone needed to be there for it because nothing ever deserved to be alone.
