"Oh, my God! What have I done?" she thought to herself.
This could not be happening!
Not now! Not when she is so close.
They have been waiting for this for a long time now. She can't let everything go down the drain. There is so much at stake.
She had to convince him to change his mind.
The last thing I ever wanted was to make him angry. She had a clear idea how dangerous he can get when provoked. The scars are still imprinted in her heart and mind.
That was twenty years ago but it was as if it happened yesterday. She was nine years old then but how can she forget when they always remind her. They don't let her forget.
Anyway she is not even sure she wants to forget. She is too involved now. Everything should go on as planned.
But how? When he has just asked her to leave?
After thinking for a little while, she knew that there is only one thing she can do. No matter how detestable she might think what she is about to do is, she has to do it.
Armed with a new determination, she went to look for her prey.
She found him sitting on the living room sofa.
Sitting beside him and putting her hand on his thigh, she said," you know I've been thinking."
"Yes", he replied bluntly.
Ok. May be she had to follow a different tactic.
Moving her hand slowly and rhythmically higher, she tried again. "I think we have started on the wrong foot."
She felt him tense. Good girl. You got a reaction. Continue.
She inched closer until she was almost sitting in his lap. She wrapped her arms around him, moved her face until their lips were almost touching and hissed, "I think I am ready."
That was all the encouragement he needed.
He has been waiting for that moment ever since he saw her. For a long time he has been thirsty for a woman's company.
He needed someone to fill the void he has been feeling. Someone naïve and malleable. Someone who is easily intimated and someone who does not ask questions. In other words someone who is absolutely different from the women on Mysteria Lane. He looked at the woman lying beside him on the bed. His wife.
"Yes, he has made the right decision in marrying her," he thought as she stretched languidly.
His wife too thought she had made the right decision but for absolutely different reasons. She knew that after last night he would not ask her to leave. She has successfully bought herself some extra time.
At least until everything else was ready.
She has to warn them to move faster. She can't keep pretenses for much longer. She saw him looking at plans of houses in Fairfax and she knew he has been talking to his realtor. He was up to something and knowing him, it must be something sinister.
He has to be stopped before it is too late. Paul Young must die.
