This is a series of short drabble-like shots for the successors of The Founders based on the show "Batman Beyond" and the comic series that follows it. Now, I haven't read the comics, but I guess this is a sort of Next Generation AU I'm formulating in my head. Please enjoy!

Kai-Ro/Green Lantern

He didn't remember much of his life before he was chosen as a Green Lantern. He couldn't have been much older than ten, maybe even younger, when it happened. He wasn't sure. Everything before then was a blur at best. All he could recall was protecting Sector 2814 and abiding to the whims of the Guardians. And to be honest, that frightened him.

Kai-Ro frequently wondered if something was wrong with him. Should he have remembered what it was like to be a normal kid? He didn't know. He didn't know anything except for what the Guardians told him.

Sometimes, he thought about his family. As in, did he even have one? Did he have a mother and father? Sisters or brothers? Had he been taken away from them or had they given him up willingly? He didn't know. He didn't know, he didn't know, he didn't-

Stop.

He did. Kai-Ro stopped, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. Thoughts such as this were dangerous, he knew that. They got in the way of his mission, his objective. Thoughts like this simply weren't allowed.

It were thoughts like that which got his predecessor John Stewart - the father of Warhawk, no doubt - stripped of his ring.

Well, not thoughts exactly like his, not even thoughts at all in fact. But emotion-based actions - strong emotions like the ones he was feeling - are what led to the events. He didn't know the exact details, but he knew that it had something to do with the hero Vixen, who was part of the old League. She had been killed in in retaliation, Stewart had killed her murderer. This had led to him being banned from the Green Lantern Corps.

As well as Warhawk's birth, a tiny voice in his head reminded him.

Nevertheless, emotions didn't do well in the Green Lantern Corpse. They almost always led to tragedy. He was much better off without them.

It still hurt though.

I decided to go with Kai-Ro first because he fascinates me. Why is a thirteen year old (if that) a Green Lantern and why is he so emotionally detached? Anyway, see you later and please review!
