A/N: Since this is a challenge community, of sorts, here's the response to the challenge Melody. Oh, and this is written by LSMunch. One more thing, characters aren't mine, sadly.

The words drip from his mouth, leaving sticky footprints on the floor as they walk over to her. They pile up around her feet until she's in danger of drowning in them. They act as water does, slowing her down, making her wade through them until she's standing right in front of him. Close enough to kiss.

That's when she comes up for air.

"It's going to be okay, John."

The only thing she can think of to say. She hopes it's enough, because if she were in his position, those sticky words might have never made it out. They would have stuck to her throat and refused to come out.

But from him they are a melody.

Her legs won't bend, so she doesn't suggest the couch. She just slides her arms around him and with her hand, gently pushes his head, giving it guidance as it comes to rest on her shoulder. Neither of them move. A sticky melody holds them in place.
