Title: Taking Precautions
Author: Piratelf
Rating: G
Fandom: SPN
Genre: FPGen
Disclaimer: I do not own Supernatural or it's characters. I therefore am not the one who pimped them out to some comic book writer who obviously doesn't give enough of a shit about them to even get their mother's age right.
Author's Notes: Something that really stood out to me while watching "Folsom Prison Blues" is how totally out-of-place Sam looked. And how, despite being the bigger brother, he was obviously the 'too pretty to go to prison' one! And I figured Dean would have realized that already, and being the protective older brother that he is, he would have worried about it. This is a phone call which would have taken place immediately before "Folsom Prison Blues".
Warning: Unspoken but inferred reference to possibility of rape.
Summary: Going into prison voluntarily is the dumbest, craziest thing they've ever done, and Dean hadn't anticipated Hendricksen catching up to them so fast, but he did take some precautions.
(Phone Call)
"Deacon? Dean Winchester."
"Dean! There a problem?"
"No, no problem. I just - I've been thinkin'. And I am willing and able to do this job, but I need some assurances."
"Sure. What kind of assurances?"
"It's my kid brother, Sam. He's a big guy, six four. Solid, probably two ten, two twenty. And he's a good fighter. But he's not aggressive. And he's got 'pretty college boy' written all over him. He's those cons' wet dreams come to life and walking straight into their cell block. And if they get anywhere near him, they will eat him up, spit him out and eat him up again. You understand what I'm saying, right?"
"I know the type, I've got the picture. Dean, I promise, I won't let anything happen to you boys."
"Yeah. Well, that's not quite good enough. See, I wanna do this for you, Deacon. We owe you and we're grateful to you for saving Dad's life. That means more to us than you'll ever know, believe me. But I need to know, without a SHADOW of a doubt, that I am gonna be bringing out the same kid I brought in. Intact. Body and soul. 'Cause as important as repaying our debt to you is, it is not even close to the importance of what we're talking about right here. You understand me?"
"I do, Dean. Listen, I swear, I will have my eyes on him the entire time. You won't see me, but I'll be around. I know who to watch out for and no one, and I mean NO ONE will get anywhere near either of you that I don't know about and approve. Anyone so much as smells like they might be thinking about Sam, or you for that matter, and I will be all over them. Your safety is my highest priority. Now what you're worried about, I won't say it never happens, but this is a county jail, Dean, not maximum security. Any really hardcore cases we have are just waiting for their court date or for sentencing, and you won't come into contact with any of them. And I have a plan to get you out that can be carried out at any time, day or night. Just give me the sign, and you're gone. Okay?"
"Yeah, okay, sounds good. Thanks, Deacon."
"Thank YOU, Dean. Guess I'll be seeing you."
"Yep, tomorrow night."
"Okay, I'll be ready."
"Right. Bye."
