So, I was replaying X when I reached Parfum Palace. I watched the fireworks cutscene and was like, "Imma make a shipfic." Enjoy my fluff.
Calem sat inside his log cabin. Outside the window was a view of Snowbelle City. A small fire burned in the fireplace. Calem's Charizard, Blitz, was under him. Both trainer and Pokémon were dozing off.
Suddenly, a knock came at the door. Calem slowly stood up and walked over. He yawned as he opened the door. Shauna was on the other side, bundled in heavy winter gear.
Calem perked up, "Shauna! How's it goin'? What are you doing up here?"
"It's going fine," Shauna replied, "I was up doing some training around here and thought I'd stop by. I might as well train with the champion if I want to beat him."
Calem smirked, "Come on inside. I'll make some hot chocolate."
Shauna walked inside and closed the door behind her. She peeled off the winter coat, revealing a pink and black jacket.
"I will never understand how you can stand this cold all the time," she complained as she sat at a wooden table.
"You get used to it," Calem replied as he rummaged through his closet, "Besides, I've got Blitz with me. Speaking of which, can you give us some more heat?"
Blitz snorted some flame in the direction of the fireplace, sparking it up some more. Calem poured some milk into a kettle and stuck it on a hook in the fireplace. He sat down at the table.
"So, you wanted to train up here," Calem began.
Shauna blushed and replied, "I want to train some of my water types with ice moves so I can fight Drasna."
"Nice. I could help you tomorrow. Blitz has been looking for a tough fight for a while."
"Thanks. I'll need to find a place in town to spend the night."
Calem got up and took the kettle off the fire with some tongs, "No way. You're one of my best friends; stay here tonight."
Shauna puts her hands in front of herself, "I couldn't impose like that."
Calem pours two mugs of milk and mixes in some chocolate, "It's fine. I sleep on top of Blitz half the time anyways. Take the bed."
For a few minutes the friends drank in silence. Calem allowed his eyes to wander a bit. He looked at how form fitting Shauna's jacket was and how it complemented her body. Calem quickly looked away and blushed heavily.
Shauna's eyes widened, "Look at those lights!"
Calem turned and looked out the window, "Oh, yea. That's the Aurora Borealis: the northern lights. You can get a better look outside."
Shauna quickly got up and exited the cabin. She stared up at the lights. Calem got up and carried his drink outside. They watched the myriad of colors move across the sky.
"They look beautiful," Shauna whispers, "This reminds me of that night at Parfum Palace."
"I know," Calem replied, equally quiet, "It's hard to believe it's been two years since that night."
Shauna pushed herself against Calem. He could feel a cold hand grab his free hand and his heart began to thump harder.
"Can I tell you something?" Shauna asked, "And will you not laugh at it?"
"You're my friend. I'll never laugh at something you don't want me to."
"Well, when we were watching those fireworks, I began to feel something. And I still do feel it. It's just that… how do I put this?"
Calem was capable of taking a hint. He leaned down and planted a kiss on Shauna's lips.
After a few seconds, Calem pulled away and said, "I've been feeling the same way."
Shauna squealed and wrapped Calem in a tight hug. Calem dropped his empty cup and wrapped his arms around the shivering girl.
"You're getting cold," he whispered, "Let's get inside."
With that, the new lovers went back inside the cabin and began their relationship.
