Worth A Risk

She didn't even look as he stood and walked away from her. Rose could not move, only wait until his muffled footsteps died away. When they finally had, the silence they left behind seemed infinite and final.

She fought back the tears, pressing her lips together to suppress a sob.

He was right, she knew that, but that didn't stop her from hating him a little for doing this to her. For saying these things.

'I want to be with you, Rose, but I need to know that you want to be with me as well. Really be with me. You have to tell them.'

She already knew what they would say. Rose could almost hear her father's voice in her head, shocked and trembling with suppressed anger. 'But he is a Malfoy! '

Well, she couldn't deny that.

With a long sigh she tore a handful of grass out of the ground. She had feared this day for so long, tried to avoid this decision.
Rose lifted her eyes to gaze up at the far-off castle.

She was afraid. Afraid of what was going to happen now that she had to leave this shelter. It had always dominated her life, growing up she couldn't wait to finally go to Hogwarts and for the past seven years, this had been her second home. Now her time here had almost run out and for the first time in her life, she didn't exactly know what was going to happen next.

However, what was scaring her most was the idea that she and Scorpios would not survive outside those castle walls. Hogwarts was very different from the real world and there would be obstacles, they didn't have to face before. Parents, for example.

How could she even consider telling her parents? It would make them hate her, building a huge wall between them. And what if it didn't work out with Scorpius? Where should she go? Who would be there for her?

She shook her head, her fiery curls flying. She couldn't tell them. No way.

And just then his face came to mind. The way his gray-blue eyes looked at her with so much love in them, as if she could die right at that moment and not regret a single day of her life. She remembered what his hair felt like, soft and silky, and the way he smelt or adjusted his blue school tie when he was nervous. How he made her laugh when she was cranky or teased her about her freckles which she hated, but she knew he loved. She thought about the feel of his lips on her skin and how he made her love him and feel like this was the only thing she would ever want to do for the rest of her life. Just be with him.

Maybe some things, she thought to herself, are worth taking a risk for.

He certainly was. She was on her feet before she even knew it. Rose just hoped, it would all turn out fine.
