I face palmed at the ridiculousness of how hard it was for Pearl to piss off Diamond with insults to this 'White'.
The three of us had been packed into my people carrier, I know, seventeen year old girl with a people carrier, my fashion must be terrible well thanks to the miracle that is the sixty's, my shitty, grey Renault is now a slightly more streamlined VW camper from the sixties, were they even from the sixties? Oh that's off topic, we had all gotten in to drive to Jubilife airport, we could have walked but then there would be the trouble of luggage since, as you may have guessed, we were going to pick up 'White'.
We were waiting at gate three of the relatively large airport, sure it was a large city but most flights to Sinnoh came through Sunnyshore where the best holiday spots were.
"The 2:35 flight from Castonia, Unova has now landed, make sure all baggage is taken otherwise it will be confiscated for investigation. Any stray pokéballs will be assumed to be Electrodes which will have to be removed in a questionably ethical way." The voice on the intercom spoke.
Pearl started laughing while I took it very seriously, no one should abuse pokémon even if they have been left by some sort of terrorist organisation to cause havoc. Diamond had no reaction, he had become immune to the dark humour that the receptionist had after his constant trips over to 'White territory'.
"Dia, Dia, Dia" Pearl started chanting tugging on the cap wearing and highly distracted champion.
Diamond waved him off , Pearl looked like a shunned Growlithe for the tenth time today before smiling crazily as he started tugging on my jacket "Plat, Plat, Plat, Platty"
I rolled my eyes as I answered "Yes Pearl?"
"I'm hungwy" He complained with a childlike voice which I still couldn't decide if he joked about using it or if it just came naturally.
"Well go get some food" I said secretly enjoying this little act of his.
"Buut Plaat" He whined, elongating his vowels.
"What is it?"
He looked into my eyes with glistening, pleading eyes "I don't have any money"
I sighed with mock reluctance.
"Here you go" I said while handing him some cash.
Pearl ran off to Arceus knows where while I stayed to talk to Diamond.
"Sooooo" I started "Why's it taken so long for her to visit Sinnoh?"
"What are you talking about?" He asked with a confused look while waiting at the gate "She flew over here a month ago"
"No, you went to Hoenn with her" I corrected him "She took an indirect flight so that she could spend more time together"
He smirked "Huh, yeah. That was awesome" He said as he zoned out, looking off in a random direction.
He always did this.
It was so… Diamond…
Then the gate opened.
People started to flood into the airport, looking for friends and family.
Diamond's eyes lit up, something I hadn't seen since Cynthia, his mentor, had left the region.
I smiled at his happy go lucky face as he ran into the crowd.
I lost sight of him until the crowd thinned.
He was standing there with her attached to his face.
Something inside me, something that had been hanging together by a thread, snapped.
That was the fifth time I realised that I liked Diamond.
The third time I denied myself to say the other word.
Sorry this took so long to post, the major factor was me being lazy but also I've been stuck on the forums for ages.
