Alex and Conner sat on the soft mat in their grandma's cottage, listening to her read the classic fairy tale about Mother Goose from her golden Story Book. Alex waddled over to look at the page, which seemed to be moving. That night, after waking up her twin brother, they tip-toed downstairs to find the book and opened it. A bright light shone from the pages and as they were bending to look at it, they fell in.

Into the Land of Stories, and they were only six.
They seemed to have landed on a goose, and they were now sitting right behind a very large woman rather high in the air."Yay!" shouted Conner as he pulled Alex off and jumped. Mother Goose (because thats who it was) screamed and angled her gander to save the twins... which were flying? It seemed fairy instincts had acted before brains and.. After this colourful display, Mother Goose managed to get the twins safely back to the Otherworld and tucked up in bed before anyone knew what had happened, "Never let anyone know your secret!" She warned. Now the twins knew they could fly, there was no end to what they would teach themselves, so long as no-one found out...

Six years later:
Alex and Conner Bailey were enjoying a peaceful day, with their tropical smoothies hovering in the air beside them. It had been quite strange when they had first discovered their magical abilities, but now they flowed to them like wind to do their bidding. It was a gorgeous life.
Suddenly Alex felt a cold chill on her toes, twisting, she saw that conner had redirected the sun towards his feet. Furious was not adequate. Alex summoned a dark cloud to hang over Conner, emptying itself in a downpour onto his head. Shrugging, Conner opened an umbrella and once again enjoyed the sun. Alex redirected the sun towards herself, only to have Connor redirect it back to himself. Smirking, Alex let conner have the sun whilst she concentrated on summoning another, larger, star.
They were both happy until they heard a call from the garage. "I'm home!" it was Mrs Bailey. Clouds, hammocks, smoothies and out-of-place stars disappeared. Alex and Conner pretended to do their homework as their mother walked in. "Hi mom." they monotoned, not looking up. "Guess who's coming for your birthday?" Mrs Bailey asked as a low, blue car pulled up on the drive "Grandma!" the twins screamed as the prior mentioned exited her car with a stack of presents.

Hugging the twins and their mother, Grandma started singing Happy Birthday. Connor grudgingly went along with tradition, but as soon as the song was up he was onto the next thing. "PRESENTS!" laughing, grandma evenly split the towering stack between the two children.
"Now come inside dearies, I have a very special story to tell you..." they all followed her inside and their mother was suddenly serious.

"The day your dad, my son, died.." grandma started awkwardly,
"... my son died the day he was planning on telling you this and your mother and I have finally got around to it. Your family is not normal. I know it sounds bizarre, but there is another world, the fairytale world, where all the characters from the fairytales live. When I was a young fairy, before I took full responsibility as the Fairy Godmother, I found a way into this world, known as the otherworld, and I made a portal so that others could too. There was a war and we spread the good news of the fairytales to all people in need. We would come back as often as we could, but years had always passed here because of the massive time difference. I let you father come with me, but told him not to get connected to anything. His mind agreed but his heart.. well it sort of got side tracked. Worried about losing him in the time gap I stupidly forbade him from joining me again. But he snuck back, using a legendary potion no one believed in so he could be with your mother. He came here and married your mum, but there was still a massive time difference. Funnily enough, when you were born the times began to settle. You were the first children of both worlds and I suppose magic always has its own mind. So there, in a nutshell, is your family history. We were planning on taking you there for a holiday soon - your mum's never been either. Sorry if its a bit overwhelming."

"Now, if you want to go pack your bags, we'll be heading off soon." Their mother added.
Alex and Connor skipped out of the room, but immediately slumped as soon as they were out of sight. "Seriously?" questioned Connor to no-one in particular. "I wanted us to be the leftovers of some sort of ancient alien apocalypse!"
"Or at least the descendants of Merlin," added Alex in disappointment. "Though I suppose it was to be expected, seeing as it was Mother Goose who ruined our adventure the first time, remember?"

They packed their bags and were down stairs in a jiffy, much to their family's amazement. After opening the portal, the Fairy Godmother motioned for them to go first. They stepped through the pages into a world they had only seen once before...
