"I heard it was Jones who came up with this." Julian said, as the entire Hellions squad stood before what appeared to be a wave-shaped rise of... something. "Supposedly they had this discussion about a 'Freedom Wall', and since Happy Hearts Day was just around the bend he thought it might be a good idea to put this up."
Cessily reached out to pass her fingers over the words and other such things that had been painted or carved or penned onto the semi-smooth surface. Someone had left Mark Sheppard a verse from a Vertical Horizon song. When she stepped back, she asked softly to no one in particular: "You think any of our names are here?"
Santo snorted but didn't say anything. Dallas was already looking around. Lance stepped forward, pulling out the Sharpie he kept in his pocket out.
"Ohman, Lance. Dude. You can't be that cheesy."
"Shut up Julian. You're just jealous 'cause your handwriting sucks and mine rocks like nobody's business."
"Who do you think he's writing for?" Cess asked, looking towards Julian, the smile on her face lingering as her stomach fluttered with the idea that just maybe, her name was somewhere among the multitude of love letters littering the wall.
"Who cares?"
Cess ignored the sarcasm in Julian's voice. "It's terribly romantic though."
"Lee!" Dallas called out. "Your name's here!"
Julian shrugged, but there was a twinkle in his eyes. "Alvers. Gimme that pen."

The original Lance Alvers (Avalanche) is a character featured in the animated series X-Men: Evolution. He is appropriated and modified for otherearth626 because hell -- IT'S LANCE, but we give credit where it is due. Since we also wanted to keep the original 616 Avalanche, the New Mutants member Rictor has been pulled from the 626 character roster, allowing Lance to become "Richter". This character is used without permission, no money made, just love provided for a character that deserved a second shot at things, really.
Thomas "Tommy" Jones (Alchemy) was originally created by comicbook fan Paul Betsow, and was the winning entry for a contest held by Marvel Comics for fan-created characters. He first appeared in X-Factor vol. 1 #41. He is appropriated and modified for otherearth626 because he was too cool a mutant not to use, credit given where it is due.
Lee Delgado is an original character created for otherearth626. Credit to Beautybedamned/Noelle Pico.
Mark Sheppard/DJ belongs to MARVEL.
