A/N: So this is just some random one-shot I made for this pairing. I haven't seen any UmixEri fics yet, so I thought I might start. And I'm sorry you kinda have to squint in this one. Will continue if I feel like it. Enjoy.
Umi gripped the hilt of her sword, beads of sweat racing down her forehead as she did so. She looked at her attire.
Navy blue tunic held together by a sky blue band. Matching trousers had been set upon her along with brown leather boots and two steel pauldrons held her midnight black cloak in place. Waist length cerulean hair reduced to shoulder length, tied up in a tight ponytail, although her bangs were kept where they were.
She looked like a boy, dressed the way she was. Umi sighed.
Wasn't she supposed to? She was a knight after all.
Walking through town, she'd certainly noticed the amount of females that blushed, looked away, or giggled when they saw her.
What's so funny?
Opening the door to NicoRinPana, a café that a few of her friends built. All eyes looked towards Umi. Shortly, they went back to whatever they'd been previously doing, drinking tea and chatting. Spotting Maki and Nozomi at the bar, Umi grabbed the free stool next to the red-head and sat herself down.
"So, what's the big deal?" Umi questioned her two friends.
"It was all Nozomi's idea." Maki quickly stated. Umi gave Nozomi a look.
"Well, you see, ever since you, Honoka and Kotori have joined the Knight's Watch, we haven't all been able to hang out in a while. You know, with all eight of us together."
"Oh. I'm sorry. I haven't noticed." Umi scratched her cheek a bit. "Are the other two here yet?"
"Yeah. They're inside helping Nico with something." Maki answered, finishing her tea.
The kitchen door suddenly opened, Rin coming out.
"Nozomi, Maki, can you help? Rush hour's starting." she said, and Umi finally noticed the amount of people who were going into the café.
"Is there something I can do?" Umi asked. Rin shook her head.
"It's fine. Besides, didn't you just come from a mission? You must be exhausted."
"... okay." Umi made herself comfortable and ordered a coffee, setting her head on the mahogany table.
"Uhm... I apologize, but... are you Sonoda Umi?" a voice behind her asked. Slowly turning to face the asker, Umi noted the auburn hair and red eyes.
"Err... yeah. And who might you be?" the brunette squealed at Umi's response.
"Can I please have your autograph?" she pleaded. Soon another girl came and asked the same. And another. And another.
Overwhelmed by the predicament, Umi hadn't a clue of what to do. Gulping, she stood stiff as a board until she felt a warm hand envelope her own.
"There you are! I've been looking all over for you!" bright blonde hair gathered in a ponytail, and wearing a light blue knight uniform, Umi had never met this person. A new recruit maybe?
Pulling Umi from the sea of fangirls, the stranger dragged her outside of the café and into a back alley.
"Thanks." Umi gratefully said, holding a hand to the other. "Sonoda Umi, you?"
"Ayase Eri. Pleasure to be in your presence, Slayer of Song." Eri bowed before shaking Umi's hand.
Umi then retracted her hand a bit quickly, a rose-colored blush appearing on her features. Eri likewise.
Even then. The spark was still felt when they touched.
