Ianto…
Jack had changed while he was gone. He couldn't figure out how exactly but he would. After dropping everyone off jack looked at Ianto with a pleading expression, then Ianto remembered that Jack lived at the hub. He'd expected him to just come with him, definitely not to wait for him to ask if he'd like to stay. "would you like to stay at mine tonight?"
"Sure. Thanks. Now that I think about it I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't asked." Jack said rather shyly. He started the car and they drove to his flat. When they got there Jack surprised him when he went to the bedroom and noticed Jack wasn't there. He looked back to see jack taking off his greatcoat and shirt and braces leaving his T-shirt before laying on the couch. Jack was serious about the date thing. Not attempting to step over the line at all. He went back to the bedroom and sighed. He was going to have another cold night in bed without because he thinks he's completely wrecked their relationship. He went to bed thinking about if he really had and how far he'd go to make it up as he drifted off.
He got up later that night for a cup of tea. When his eyes drifted to Jack they softened instantly. He'd never seen Jack have nightmares except once about a woman named elizabeth, ex wife, dead. This one seemed worse by far. Jack gasped and jerked upright, panting and sputtering as he was pulled out of the nightmare. He knew Ianto was staring worrily at him but he couldn't force himself to look at him. He hated worrying Ianto and couldn't wait until he could suffer the nightmares in peace without being a burden. Ianto crouched so that he was eye level with jack and put a hand on his arm. "Are you okay?" "Fine Ianto, I'm fine." Ianto firmly squeezed jacks arm. "Jack I've never seen you have nightmares that bad before. I want to know the truth, are you okay?" "I'm okay Ianto. It's nothing. Just, about while I was away. Nothing, just haven't blocked it out yet. Go back to bed, don't worry, please?" Jack asked. Ianto nodded and walked to the bedroom but stopped in the doorway. "Try to sleep Jack. I don't want to see you awake in the morning and I know when you're faking." Jack nodded and laid back. He didn't want them worrying. He needed to always be the strong one, to protect his team, take care of them, if it was the other way around he became a burden.
