Chapter One- All she ever did
Crystal clear crocodile tears rolled down the ivory cheeks of a non to happy Harley Quinn. "I just can't believe it, Red" sobbed the crying blond as she shook her head frantically, pony tail whipping around behind her. Pam only sighed and stared up at her through emerald eyes as she tended to the bruise on Harley's arm.
"You should be used to this by now, Harl" muttered Pam as she tried to be comforting. She was so sick of hearing about the Joker by now that keeping that motherly tone and gentle demeanor was getting to be a challenge.
"I CAN STAND THE BEATINGS!" Harley cried loud and obnoxious "He replaced me with another girl! With another Harlequin!" the shaken blond choked back violently sobbing before bursting into loud violent smoker like coughing from crying so hard.
"I have to admit" Pam said softly "That was low...even for him" Harley had come to her just this morning crying violently and had not stopped all day. How many times had her best friend come to her in shambles, bruised and beaten? Too many to count. Still within an hour or so she would be smiling and jumping around the house, ready to run back into his arms again.
Something was different this time...Harley wasn't bouncing back. The tears weren't clearing and her smile wasn't twitching around at the corners of her lips. Harley truly felt betrayed this time. Of course she did. Any woman would. To bring another woman into her home and call that imposter by her name...it's disgusting. Vile even. Clearing her throat Harley finally said "All I ever did was love him"
The Joker snickered as he settled down at his desk and got out a fresh new piece of blue print paper, laying it all the way across his desk as he placed the fraying eraser of a small pencil between marble lips. When a soft clang broke the silence his emerald eyes shifted toward the green and purple poka-dot mug that now sat on his desk. It's handle gripped by a black gloved hand "I made you some coffee, Mister Joker, sir"
Furrowing green eyebrows together the Joker crinkled his nose, he'd never liked coffee and his Harley would have known that. It was to bitter no matter how many sugars were added and he very much preferred hot chocolate. "You were busy so I thought-" she was cut off when he threw the coffee mug across the room with a flick of his wrist. The green and purple mug flew right past the girls head and shattered against the wall in a wash of glass and coffee that stained the wall and puddled at the floor.
Cowering with her hands on her head in a defensive manor the little harlequin replacement burst into tears "I'm sorry sir! I only thought that" before the fear stricken hench-girl could finish her sentence The Joker calmed himself and rubbed his left temple with two fingers.
"Just go" his voice carried over the sound of the door shutting as she exited his office. A light flickered dimly as he looked around wondering what was so wrong. Oh yes...she hadn't called him by that stupid demeaning embarrassing nickname.
Then again...he thought to himself...she walked out when he told her to. This Harley knew how to listen. Ha! Maybe things weren't so bad after all. Settling back in his chair the Joker snickered once more...yeah...things weren't so bad. All Harley ever did was annoy him. "Good Riddance to ya" he muttered not bothering to look up from the plan he was now sprawling over his blue print paper. He was going to need a lot of bats and a really big truck.
