Sharon finished telling Andy exactly what the doctor had told her. The worry on his face broke her heart.
"Come here." Andy held his hands put to her.
Sharon moved to set beside him on the bed. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
"Look at us." Sharon half laughed. "Two old fools with bad hearts."
"Speak for yourself." Andy acted hurt then shook his head. "I'm no fool. I'm the luckiest man alive."
"You think so?" Sharon smiled.
"I know so and don't look at this like we have bad hearts." Andy laid them back on the bed. He pulled her tight against him and kissed her temple. "We have hearts that have been through good, bad, and ugly. Broken in need of mending. You're love helped mend my heart so let my love mend your's."
"Thank you for being here." Sharon snuggled closer.
"Sharon, I'm here as long as you want me to be." Andy rolled over on his side to look down at her. "You don't have to go through everything alone anymore. For better or worst. Through sickness and health."
"How did I get so lucky?" Sharon ran her fingers through his hair.
"Trust me I'm the lucky one." Andy smiled then bent down to kiss her.
If anyone would have told them eight years ago that this was where they would be, Sharon and Andy would have both laughed in their face. Now they couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
