I was sort of bored tonight and my science homework was boring me dreadfully. So, I opened up a new word document, and wrote this. I'm not quite sure why, as it's dreadfully vague, and it never really explains what happens, and it's just all meaningless fluff. But I hope you like this meaningless fluff, so keep reading!
She pressed up against him, wiping the dried tears from her stained cheeks, inhaling the bittersweet smell that carried on his clothes, smothering herself in the shield he provided to her from the outside world – from all her troubles.
She slowly snuffled in, relaxing and closing her eyes, his body warmth radiating from him. Strangely enough, she felt oddly comforted. She shouldn't, of course. This was wrong, this was so close to crossing that line. But really, she didn't care anymore. Things had gone past her caring, and all she wanted at that moment was for something to retreat to, a reason to bear it all.
And really, Booth was that reason.
She gently traced the lines of his hand, trying to find a way to occupy her wandering thoughts, that were slowly wandering to things that she didn't want to think about. She tenderly followed the bone pattern in his hands, her finger slowly sliding along the top of his skin. She could feel him tensing up, his muscles becoming taut and rigid.
The rhythm of his hand was almost mesmerizing, hypnotizing. She felt a wave of calm wash over her, even if it was only momentarily. She embraced it, diving slowly under, as she lay her head on his hand, resting her soul from the emotional torment that had ripped through it the past day.
She stared up at the ceiling briefly, as a feeling of numbness encompassed her. She wondered what would become of her – would she be able to keep continuing this façade, this act that she didn't need somebody to prop her up, to help her keep walking, to help her keep smiling, help her keep living.
And finally, she closed her eyes.
And she was calm, for the first time that day. Booth stood up quietly, staring softly at his tormented, sleeping angel. He bent down, and kissed her on the cheek.
"Sweet dreams."
And sweet dreams she had.
