Disclaimer and Notes: these two belong to all owners of Slayers. I'm just putting forth a twisted theory – you know, the kind that occurs at 3am? not making claims to them. Don't shoot the messenger, and all that crap. Reading might be a bit confusing… sorry about that; I was playing with a different style to get the idea across. And some people might interpret there as being yaoi in this. Not at all intended, but it depends on how you look at it. Be warned. --- BlackLightning42

Birth

It began with a darkness. A single streak of dark force that simply was, and by some strange force happened to be. But before that, there was nothing, as there was no light for there was no dark from which to distinguish it. So was the light, swirling and endless and dancing as was the darkness. Never together and yet never apart for time so infinite that it could not truly be tracked in its passing. It was across plains of space and time that hold no meaning, yet take the very fabric of existence by collective force. And at times and places the dark would be timid and be surrounded by the light, and others the light would be the force to shy away. Yet ever were they so close that they could barely be defined as separate, but were completely different, and still completely the like but infinitely apart. So close the two forces danced that they could not be individually called 'one', but were 'both' in an eternal struggle of companionship – the greatest of foes and closer than lovers. Reliance was formed between they, for before the dark there was no light; after the dark or the light the other would have no way to be told as reality. It was from this bond of eternity that new was formed. New that was neither light nor dark, but both… and still carrying no true qualities of the former. The new formed the struggle between the light and the dark, framing the battle for an equally eternal one of different proportion. But the struggle taken form the origins, they were no longer bound to one another – splitting apart for the rest of infinity, and taking form of truth to themselves just as they had given truth to the humans.

Broken from a final embrace, the two parted for the first and last time.

"Good-bye," breathed the shimmering dragon.

"Good-bye," returned the ruby-eyed monster.
