To get back into the BTR mood (to update both Star Crossed and Just Laugh and Run), I wanted to venture into second person again but with some poetry thrown in. I think it turned out okay.
The first time we kissed.
Our song was playing.
Our song was playing and everything was perfect.
Our song is Sweet Baby James
and it was playing softly on your stereo
as your hands grazed my spine,
And my hands enjoyed your slender hips;
The moment was perfect.
A dream come true.
We had confessed the secret that hindered us.
We both felt the same way.
You whispered my name:
Kendall
Before the embrace
Before our hands were on each other
Before our gazes bore into each other
Before you, James, leaned in.
You leaned in, smiling softly.
We ignored all the impending consequences;
the consequences that faced us if we followed through.
But we did
and we dealt.
I ignored everything except for your lips on mine.
It was the first time we kissed.
Our song was playing.
There's a song that they sing when they take to the highway,
a song that they sing when they take to the sea,
a song that they sing of their home in the sky,
maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep,
but singing works just fine for me.
So, goodnight you moonlight ladies,
rock-a-bye sweet baby James.
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose,
won't you let me go down in my dreams?
