Don't usually crosspost oneshots but woohoo... This can be read as platonic or romantic Azure Kite-Haseo interaction...
Sorta a challenge for myself to try and write Azure Kite with totally horrendous to read dialogue lmao. This one is proly more understandable than the ao3 version tho bc it won't take at-signs
Haseo was pretty sure he was being mimicked.
It wasn't in a mocking way or anything, of course. He wasn't quite sure Azure Kite was capable of something like mocking… Being blunt seemed to be more what the AI exceeded at, if anything, when it came to communication.
However, at the moment it looked more like he was trying to copy body language, as if in an attempt to nail it down for himself. Haseo guessed there was no harm in that, wanting to be a little less lifeless in interactions… In fact, he wished Azure Kite luck.
It was, however, a bit much to handle when the knight copied every movement he made. If Haseo sat down somewhere, Azure Kite would do the same. If he rested his chin on his hand to think, Azure Kite would do the same as he studied Haseo's expression. Every head tilt, every flick of the wrist; Azure Kite was watching and copying, trying to earnest to understand.
"You copying me for a reason, then?" He finally decided he needed to know exactly what Azure Kite was up to, hopefully just confirming his suspicions.
Azure Kite nodded, a sharp-toothed smile on his face as he copied the tilting of Haseo's head. Alright, well that was to be expected… He wasn't sure Azure Kite ever did anything just because, after all.
"You trying to learn how to use body language then?"
A shake of the head told him he was wrong.
He furrowed his brow. That made no sense… "What are you doing it for, then?"
Azure Kite opened his mouth, garbled words escaping. "...L# rn & ^t y ^."
"Learn about… You're trying to learn about me?" Haseo blinked. "I don't see why you need to copy what I do with my body to learn more about me!"
"^nd#$tand w#y yo^ do *t." He replied, voice as jumbled as ever.
He blinked, letting the words register. Well, now he was just going to feel bad about what he was about to say to Azure Kite. "I don't really do much of it for any real reason, you know that, right? It's just sorta subconscious…"
Azure Kite's lips tugged into a frown at Haseo's words. He really did feel bad, bursting the knight's bubble like this… But it had to be done, right? No point in letting him continue to mimic Haseo when it wouldn't give him the answer he was looking for.
"Sorry…" He rubbed the back of his neck and Azure Kite grabbed his arm, frown still on his face.
"L*ar…" An accusation right after Haseo said sorry, huh? Not a nice feeling. "Yo^ do t#*n&$ for a r#a$on…"
"I don't! If I do something, it's just because of…"
"F##!*n&$."
"Yeah… Feelings." At least Haseo hoped that's what he was saying. "The way I'm feeling might get me to subconsciously do something, but there's no real thought about reason behind any of it."
A smile returned to Azure Kite's lips and he let out a laugh, leaning closer to Haseo. "!'m l#arn*n& abo^t yo^..."
Haseo wanted to argue, but… Now that he thought about it, maybe Azure Kite was right. It didn't register as anything important to him, but he guessed body language did say a lot about him to others. He'd never really thought about that much, he didn't exactly pay the best attention to others' body language, after all.
"That's fair enough…" He looked away with a sign, hand on his chin again. "I don't see why you have to copy me, though."
Azure Kite once again mimicked the action. "...F^n."
"Fun, huh?"
