Prologue

"Merida." Elinor called out from the kitchen. "It's time for dinner.

Inconsistent giggling echoed throughout the lonely hallway. Elinor who heard the giggles of her daughter, stopped dead in her tracks, and went to investigate. Brown hues surveyed the area, until she noticed Merida, whom was gleefully beaming, clutching her bow and arrows close. The brunette couldn't help but quietly chuckle.

"What are we having for dinner mommy?" Asked the curious little redhead.

"Haggis."

Merida winced, her nose crinkling up in disgust. "Ewwwww!"

"It's just a wee sheep stomach."

"But it's grooosss!" She whined, stomping her right foot.

"It's not that bad, now go on and take a seat."

"Ok. But /I/ am not eating that!" She declared, dramatically pointing her index finger at the boiled stomach.

Her mother just rolled her eyes and chuckled. While Merida was playing around with her food, Elinor sensed something off—something was wrong, she was sure of it. Cautiously, she scanned the dining room.

'Something evil is afoot…'

Her eyes met a sinister shadow, nearly screaming in terror, she rushed over to her daughter, confused, blue orbs studied the frantic mother.

Suddenly, Merida felt an demonic force creeping up on them from behind. She turned around and saw a man in what seemed to be a grim reaper outfit, hazel opticals brightly shining, his long spiky jet black hair eerily still, but his most distinguishing feature was his teeth—they were dangerously sharp.

"Her time as a human is up love..." He spoke, his voice raspy.

"You said until her eighth birthday Pitch!" The female countered, tightly grabbing onto Merida.

"Today's her birthday, don't you see?" He gestured to the calendar.

Brown eyes became wide.

"Mum, what's going on?" She inquired fearfully.

I can't believe you never told her." Pitch tched, crossing his arms dubiously. "Our child deserved to know about her Father you know."

"Father?!"

"Indeed, I'm your biological Father."

Merida gave out a gasped, slowing backing away until she met with the wall. Elinor donned a grief stricken expression, as she stepped in front of Pitch and spoke.

"I am ready to complete my part of the deal..."

"Mum...?"

Pitch sighed, and cupped his lover's face before he leaned in and kissed her—he did love her, he really did—he withdrew a knife from his sleeve. To Merida, the world seemed to slow down, as she saw her mother get stabbed through the chest, the blade piercing her heart. Her bright blue hues widen, tears escaped, one after another..

"Noooo!"

Elinor's body limped in process and body fell to the floor. She turned her head slowly meeting her daughter's gaze and whispered.

"Forgive me..."

Gasping her last breath, she fell limp and ceased moving all together. The youngling tried to cope with the dreadful situation. Her mother was killed by man who claimed to be her father. Blood oozed out of the body making a puddle of the red substance, and Merida felt herself transforming .

Her skin turned pale, her eyes changed in color, her usual blue orbs were now a sickening light hazel, hair became jet black—matching with her father's and her teeth were now just as sharp as his, nails increased in length and also turned black, bat-like wings sprouted from her shoulder blades, a tail lodged between her hipbone. She let out a screech.

Pitch offered a soft smile, accidentally showing his teeth. "Congratulations my dear, you've turned into a demon."

All Merida could do was stare at the man.
