"Leonard, honey, can you help me with this?"

"Yeah, sure!" Leonard took one last look at his costume in the bathroom mirror, once again cursing his genetics for making him wear glasses - Han Solo would never wear glasses - before going back to the bedroom, where Penny was struggling to reach the zipper on the back of her dress.

"Can you do me up?" she asked, turning her back to him.

Leonard easily zipped her costume, and his jaw dropped as she turned to face him again.

"You look…" he started, but he suddenly found himself incapable of finding the right words.

"What, is something wrong?" Penny asked worried, looking down at her dress. "I thought I put it on like the picture on the package."

"No, no, you're perfect."

She was wearing a white Princess Leia dress with slits on both sides that reached mid-thigh, complete with matching boots, and her long hair was twisted into the iconic buns.

Penny smiled and stepped towards him, sliding her hands under his dark vest.

"Perfect, huh? Is that what you tell all the girls on Halloween?"

"Only when it's true," he said with a smile, wrapping his arms around her and leaning in for a quick kiss.

"You're looking pretty good yourself, there," Penny said after the kiss, taking a small step back to look at his costume. "The whole Rebel Alliance thing works for you."

Leonard shrugged.

"I still can't believe you agreed to be Leia."

"I would have agreed a lot sooner if you'd told me from the start she gets to carry a bad-ass gun," Penny said, leaning over to pick up said weapon from the bed.

"Technically it's a blaster. Not that I really care what you call it, but if you want to avoid a lecture later from Sheldon…"

"Got it," Penny said with a nod. She dropped the weapon and went to the bathroom to check her makeup. "So what was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?"

"Actually, I didn't really dress up when I was younger," Leonard said, sitting down on her bed.

Penny gasped.

"Is this another one of those horrible my-mother-didn't-give-me-cake things?"

"Kind of. She'd let us wear costumes, but then she psychoanalyzed our choices so much it just took the fun out of it."

"You're amazing, you know that?" Penny said, leaning against the door frame as she looked at him.

Leonard frowned, confused by the seemingly sudden change in the conversation.

"What?"

"I mean, you had to build a friggin hugging machine when you were a kid, but you still grew up to be the sweetest man I know." She joined him on the bed and wrapped her arms around him once more to give him a real hug. "I love you."

"I know."

Penny looked up at him, her eyebrows raised, to see him smirking.

"I love you, too," he finally said, laughing and pulling her back into a hug.

"Are you gonna try to find opportunities to quote Star Wars all night?"

"Do or do not, there is no try."

Penny tried to stifle her laughter as she fixed him with a glare.

"Next year, I get to pick the costumes."
