I own nothing but my love for the story of Merlin...the show and its characters belong to the BBC network, I've just written a quirky moment between the two friends...hopefully we'll see ascene like this sometime soon! I'm obviously new on FanFiction, and I'm putting this story out there to see if it's any good. Enjoy!
~ Hunting Trip ~
Arthur lay back on his pillow, sighing in satisfaction. "Well…almost satisfaction," he thought to himself. Absentmindedly he ran his fingers through his hair again and again, trying to recreate
the sensation of her touch. Or at least what he imagined it would feel like if she would ever run her fingers through his hair. It was disappointing every time he found his fingers instead of
hers. "She had a way about her, didn't she?" He thought to himself. "Oh, Guinevere..." He sighed, pursing his lips together deep in thought. It was at that moment an annoying voice broke
through Arthur's daze, "you DO know you said that out loud?" Arthur's eyes shot open at his manservant's cheeky remark, and he bolted into an upright position. Yelling, "MERlin!" as he
chucked a water pail at his jovial, unsuspecting friend across the campfire. Not only did Arthur completely soak his comrade, but he also drenched the burning coals keeping the pair of them
warm. Merlin moaned in protest, "oh…okay…next time, I'm gonna move the pail of icy water away from you FIRST." Arthur smirked smugly, readjusting his pillow to return to "sleep." Merlin
scowled at Arthur, "You soaked me through! I can't sleep like this!" But there was no sympathy to be found from Arthur Pendragon. He simply smiled casually with a mischievous glint in his
eye, "You should think about consequences to your actions, Merlin. Could get you in a lot of trouble someday." And with that parting comment, Arthur promptly turned over and away from
him.
Merlin just sat there for a moment, staring at the back of Arthur's head with disbelief. Merlin kept back a sigh as he noisily wrung out his rather thin, soaking shirt. At this, Arthur turned
back over to face the noise. "Oh, and Merlin?" Merlin turned wearily, "rebuild the fire, would you? It's cold out here." Arthur smiled one last time and turned back to his pillow, leaving Merlin
sitting in a dripping state of disbelief and exasperation. He stood up and noisily trudged through the woods in the slight hope that he would be loud enough to keep Arthur awake.
