The sweetest of dreams can become the darkest of nightmares. Hao Asakura always dreamed of becoming Shaman King to rid the world of all humans no matter what. Yet everytime he was foiled. He was betrayed, the he died. Then now in the year 1998, reincarnated for a third time as the twin brother of Yoh Asakura, he lost his dream again.
He had been so close, yet so far. For even a brief moment he had claimed the other half of his soul, completeing himself. His small victory over his little brother had been short lived. His friends, forever loyal, somehow managed to return Yoh's soul to his body.
Long before Hao had to deal with his Otouto, he had two other lives. The fist was when he was a ying yang master and he learned all his tricks. This was when his obsession with becoming the Shaman King. Even Hao isn't sure how he died.
In his second life, he saved a small cat spirit named Matamune. Things went smoothly at first and they bonded. Matamune was the first thing Hao gave all his trust too. But, in the end Matamune disagreed with Hao's ambitons and helped the Asakura family destroy Hao. This resulted in Hao's second death.
Hao Asakura is wise, calm and could be kind like Yoh if he was given the chance. People say that those are the qualities that the Shaman King should have. Hao may have a temper, but not many people can remain as calm as him. Perhaps in the future, during the next tournament in the year 2500 around, Hao Asakura with a calmer and kinder ambition, could become Shaman King. Maybe... one can only hope right?
