Teal'c eyed the swimming pool nervously. If he had the depth calculations right then the pool was far deeper than he would have liked – in that it would be well over his head. "I do not see why this 'swimming' is considered an essential training skill, O'Neill," Teal'c grumbled through gritted teeth.

O'Neill eyed him with a raised a wary brow.

Perhaps Teal'c considered, he needed to voice his disapproval in less of an aggressive tone. "The Gods do not enjoy paddling in deep water any more than Jaffa do," explained Teal'c, more moderately. "We will not be required to pursue any of our enemies through vast expanses of water."

O'Neill eyed him again. "Teal'c, we'll be travelling to God knows how many planets and you know as well as I that we should be prepared for any sort of situation."

Teal'c inclined his head slowly, acknowledging the point. He glared at the water, feeling his muscles tense up in preparation for what was to come.

"Wait a second, Teal'c. Have you ever done any sort of swimming training before?"

Teal'c shook his head slowly contemplating the deep water with trepidation. "Jaffa do not require this skill."

"Well, for crying out loud, no wonder you're nervous. Come on then, we're heading for the shallow end."

Teal'c looked back at his companion with a mixture of relief and amusement. "Jaffa do not get nervous, O'Neill."

O'Neill stopped and frowned at him. "You we're gonna jump in and try to learn how to swim before you drowned weren't you?"

Teal'c tilted his head in puzzlement. "You are my commanding officer. You require that I learn this skill."

"Oh, for Pete's sake."

Teal'c looked around trying to find this elusive 'Pete' individual – and failed yet again to locate him. "My symbiote would sustain me for a short amount of time without air. Hopefully, by then I would have mastered the basics of this 'swimming' skill."

O'Neill sighed dramatically. "After this lesson, you and me are gonna have a long, looong talk, Teal'c"
