Aiden woke up to natural sunlight. He yawned and stretched, wondering what day of the week it was. When he checked his calender he learned it was the day he was going to get his first pokemon. Very excited, he got dressed in a rush and ran downstairs to the dining room. He was wearing a red shirt with black jeans. His favorite black hat was on backwards, covering his brown hair, as usual.
A lot of the older people in town thought of him as a punk. They didn't really know him though. He cared deeply about his friends and he would miss them, but he was going to be a great pokemon trainer. It was his absolute dream.
He headed outside after he grabbed a quick breakfast of cereal and toast. The wind was strong as usual. New Bark Town was known for its crazy winds. As Aiden approached Elm's Lab he saw his neighbor Bentley. Bentley was wearing a green t-shirt and jeans. His blond hair was just long enough to cover his eyes. "Whats up?" Aiden asked.
"Getting my starter. If I'm going to be a pokemon champion I need to start intense training right away." Bentley brushed his hair out of his face as they kept walking. "I hate having long hair."
"Then why don't you cut it?" He asked.
"My family won't let me." He sighed. "Whatever, I can deal with it."
As we entered the building Aiden saw Professor Elm talking talking to another kid from town who was getting her starter that day. Lana had bright orange hair held into a ponytail by a white hair piece. She was wearing a blue shirt and white shorts. "Oh, hey guys!" She called over to the boys, peppy as usual.
"Hello all." Professor Elm said timidly. "After checking the assessment tests you took last week, I know exactly which pokemon suits each of you."
He led them into a large room with three sections. One area was loaded with grass and had a sunroof. A Meganium was taking a nap in the sunlight. Another area was full of rocks and had two heaters keeping it warm. A typhlosion was sitting on a rock chewing on what appeared to be a bone-shaped toy. The last area was a pool and through the clear water they could see a Feraligatr swimming. "These are my pokemon. The Pokemon for you are in the center of the room."
There were three pokeballs on a metallic table in the center of the room. Professor Elm walked up to the table and picked up one of the three balls. He turned to face Bentley. "This is the grass pokemon Chikorita. It best suits you, Bentley."
"Thank you sir" Bentley stepped back after taking the pokeball.
Elm then chuckled and grabbed another pokeball before facing back to the group. "Lana, at first I thought this pokemon would end up belonging to Bentley. I was wrong. It suits you better than him. This is the water pokemon Totodile."
After Lana took the pokeball Aiden knew it was his turn. He knew he was getting the pokemon he wanted but he was still nervous. "I'm ready Professor Elm."
Professor Elm smiled. "This pokemon is the youngest of the three. I see a lot of potential in it, but its going to need a caring trainer. This is the pokemon chosen by your assessment test. This is the
fire pokemon Cyndaquil." Elm handed the pokeball to Aiden.
As Aiden took the pokeball he felt warmth in his hand. Not warmth like fire, but something that felt like it was right. He had just recieved the perfect pokemon for him. The next day Aiden left New Bark Town to begin exploring Johto and collecting gym badges.
