There worse things than death. Like getting bit by vampire or having your bones snapped by said vampire ( that happened to me). Or to have to kill the love of your life because said person was evil then have him came back to life for you to find out that he was brainwashed and that he truly was on your side and have him die all over again, but this time with no chance of ever coming back (Thalia) .Or having the love of your life tell you he never loved you, for instance (me). Which is the reason why I joined the Hunter's the second Artemis offered it.
Now I see that was a terrible mistake.
Because the only thing worse than having the love of your life tell you he never loved you is for him to tell you that he lied and always did love you. And that he lied in order to protect you for himself and for you to not be able to love him back unless you want to die. Which is exactly what happened to me.
