This is a story based on when Luna Lovegood was younger. Dedicated to all mega Luna fans out there like me.

My Mum was writing in her small patchy notebook. Occasionally dipping her quill back into the small ink pot on her table. "Mum?" I whispered,"What are you doing?"

"I'm making a spell." She replied,"Luna dear, tell me, does the moon ever sleep?"

I giggled and said,"Yes Mummy, every month."

"So tell me then, if even the moon leaves every month, what will we do on those nights?"

"What?"

"Make enough magic is to replace it."

"Was I born on a moonless night?"

"Yes Luna, a beautiful moonless night." Mum lifted my chin and said,"That's why we named you Luna. You were so much magic, we made you the moon that night."

I laughed and twirled,"When I go to Hogwarts Mum, will you write?"

"Well of course. But only if you write back." Mummy looked at her notebook and asked,"Luna, would you watch this new charm?"

"Yes Mum. What is it?"

"It makes a moon for those moonless nights."

"Show me."

"Eager."

"Please?"

"Okay." Mum waves her wand and mutters something under her breath. But once the words left her mouth I knew something was terribly wrong. Light was coming out the back of her wand and before I knew it. My beautiful, kind, amazing mother, was dead on the floor.

That's why I can see thestrals.
