School of Rock

behind the glamour

RingRing Dewey Finn's alarm clock chimes its annoying hymn as he rolls off the mattress placed on the middle of the floor, covered in Doritos crumbs and Superman sheets. It is now 7:48 am and time for him to get ready to teach. No, no, no, it's not at Horace Green anymore, nope. Now he and his best friend Ned Schneebly own a school of their own called the School of Rock. There they teach kids to rock out loud.

Ned teaches three different subjects: guitar, bass, and voice lessons. He teaches children ages 4 to 8 and also ages 9 to 12. it's probably because Ned has more tolerance for younger kids and talk about patience.

Dewey on the other hand, well he isn't the most patient person in the world or the nicest. So he teaches guitar, and percussion and history of rock to kids ages 13 to 17 and he also has his own band there.

Even though Ned fits this into his every day life to the side of substitute teaching, this is Dewey's whole life. His band means everything to him. Summer Hathaway is the band manager and she puts a lot in it to it to keep them organized and finding them gigs. Freddy Jones is their percussionist, Katie is on bass, Zack Mooneyham is their lead guitarist, Alicia, Tomika, and Marta are the three back-up singers, and finally there is Dewey Finn as a guitarist and partial vocals.

As a band and as classmates there is a lot of drama that goes on between all of them. Everybody knows that if Freddy and Katie get into a fight before a show then there will be trouble. Since they are dating there are many things for them to worry about like one day when Katie out of no where was mad at Freddy because she claimed to have seen him "flirting" with the back-up singer Marta. Freddy couldn't keep a beat to save his life.

The band members also have a problem of thinking there idea is the best. When there is a new song in progress Dewey assigns each member to come up with two verses and a chorus. The next day they get together and combine really good lines or phrases. People will always think that they should use their ideas and not that one and use this, no, not that, this. It takes a while to finally decide what they will go with but after it all it comes together to be a great hit.
