Welcome to the most depressively cliché oneshot I (hope) will ever be written be me. This wonderful piece of clichéd oneshot-ness came about when I was sorting through my clothes, and found this poncho... from London! (Yeah, I'm Australian...London's a long way away for me) My aunt brought it back from one of her holidays. Anyway, for reasons unknown even to me, I had this idea. Enjoy!!
Jinx made her way slowly through the gathering snow, up to a small apartment building. She knocked on the door, and it was answered by Mrs. West. She smiled when she saw Jinx.
"Oh Jenny darling, come in! Wally will be so happy to see you." She turned and yelled up the stairs "Wally! Jen's here!"
From the floor above, both Jinx 'Jen' and Mrs. West heard the muffled yell of "I'm not coming down, I look stupid."
Mrs. West looked over at Jinx. "Sorry dear, Wally's being a baby, as usual. I'll deal with him, you make yourself at home."
"I heard that Mom!"
As Mrs. West hurried up the stairs, Jinx walked into the West's small, but comfortable kitchen, barely concealing a smirk as she distinctly heard more than one whine of "But Mom!"
Five or so minutes later, a harassed looking Mrs. West practically Wally down the stairs. This time, it was all Jinx could do not to laugh and even so she couldn't prevent a smile from finding its way onto her face. Wally was wearing, courtesy of his mother's dressing skills, a white shirt, buttoned right up to his chin, with an orange tie, dotted with blue spots, a thick, knitted vest in orange, red and beige, and a matching (also knitted) jacket.
Mrs. West had, mercifully, allowed Wally to wear a pair of dark blue jeans, and lace up shoes with this rather garish ensemble.
"Let's go." Wally muttered stiffly to Jinx.
"Not without photos!" Mrs. West 'oh-so-helpfully' butted in. "You'll want to remember this night forever."
Jinx smiled angelically at her. "Yes, you're right. I want to remember this night forever."
Wally gulped. It was perfectly alright for Jinx, who looked stunning in a black dress with a purple corset, fishnet's and her favorite pair of Doc Martens. For him, however, there could be problems.
Before he had time to think of a way to escape this rather painful situation, his mother was pushing him next to Jinx and snapping photographic evidence of this humiliating night.
A full fifteen minutes later, Wally dragged Jinx out of the door and down the street. Jinx couldn't keep it in any longer. She burst out laughing, pointing at his outfit.
"Okay. Okay, stop it! I know I look stupid."
"You don't look stupid," Jinx replied between giggles "You look downright RIDICULOUS!"
"That would be one way to put it."
Once Jinx had managed to stop laughing, she grabbed Wally's jacket, vest and tie, threw them onto the road, unbuttoned the first couple of buttons on his shirt, untucked his shirt, and stepped back to admire her work.
She smiled "Much better."
"But now I'm cold!" Wally whined (Author note: that sounds funny! Wally Whined, Wally Whined, Wally Whined, okay, I'll stop now.)
"Deal with it. Let's go."
Yeah, I know that sucked, you don't have to tell me. The ending makes me want to crawl under a rock and hide away. Definitely not my best work, but some small part of me likes it. I just picture Wally having embarrassing parents, and Jinx finding that hilarious (Who wouldn't?).
Oh, you thought when I said 'A mother's touch, I meant Jinx and Kid Flash were married, and they had kids? No, no, no, that's too cliché, even for me!
