Going Grey
"Dammit, Jackson!"
"Hey, Mitchell, nice to see you, too." Daniel replied sarcastically, turning a grin on his friend as the other man tore into his office.
"Don't give me that placating smile of yours. I refuse to be side-tracked."
"Okay, fine." Daniel pushed his work aside and focussed his attention on his CO. "What's up?"
"I'm old!"
"And..." the archaeologist prompted when he didn't elaborate.
"And it's all your fault."
"How is your getting old my fault?"
"Because of this, Jackson!" Cam tossed a Petri dish onto his desk.
Daniel looked from the dish to Cam then back, growing more confused by the second. "Uh, I don't get it."
"Look inside and tell me what you see."
"It's a hair." he said after doing as requested, still not understanding what the problem was.
"Yeah, it's a hair. More specifically, it's a grey hair. I have grey hair and it's all your fault!"
"Again, how is that my fault?"
"Because you're the one who gave it to me, that's how! You keep dying or getting kidnapped or touching things you shouldn't. And this whole Vala thing...I didn't believe O'Neill when he told me you were responsible for his full head of white hair. Now...Dammit! I'm gonna end up looking like General O'Neill in a few years. Oh, this is just great." Mitchell suddenly deflated and took a seat opposite Daniel.
"You done now?" Daniel asked with poorly disguised mirth.
"You think this is funny?" Cam asked, albeit in a much weaker voice now.
"I do, actually. Jack did pretty much the same thing when he discovered his first grey hair. Maybe there is something to that whole time travelling thing, after all."
"Oh, hell no! Don't even go there."
"Don't go where and can I come along?" came a familiar accented voice from the doorway.
"Jeez, Princess, could you be any stealthier?"
"Yes." she answered in complete honesty. "Now, if you boys are through with whatever it is you were doing, may I please have my chair back, Cameron?"
Cam stood and mumbled something under his breath about sneaky space pirates then turned to leave.
"Wait a second, Cameron." Vala stopped him and plucked something off his shoulder, holding it up to the light for closer inspection. "I do believe your hair may be falling out, darling. And this one appears to be grey."
"Dammit!" Cam shouted and stormed out.
"Did I say something wrong?" Vala asked, all-innocence.
Daniel just grinned and went back to work, causing Vala to shrug and do the same. There was no understanding the Tau'ri sometimes.
The End
