If you ever cared to take a glance into the life of an animal, there will always be a certain likeness that belongs to a certain group. And, if you chanced to look further, you would find that there was very rarely a change. Cats, in all their forms always had a lazy, easy going attitude that either annoyed people or put them at ease. Dogs, by contrast, always looked at life with an air of excited optimism. Birds had a chipper, quick manner that demanded attention and pigs didn't mind anything as long as it wasn't too stupid and it somehow involved food. It was the way of things, and it was exactly how it should be.

And that was precisely why Stu and Bonnie Hopps were so very worried.

"A cop, a cop she says" They would mutter, "that's not very bunny like at all."

They would ring their paws and bundle their carrots into twelves as they did so, "why would she ever want to do that? It's not safe, not hardly safe."

And they watched worriedly as their daughter went from performing small plays in school to graduating from the police academy, and they thought that maybe, they needn't worry so much; to watching her become a Zootopian hero. And then perhaps, they thought, they had never any real need to worry at all.

"She'll be alright." Stu said one day, sipping his coffee. and Bonnie agreed, because nothing could shake their Judy. After that they worried much less and instead were comfortable- for the most part- in what their daughter was doing . That was until one day they received a call. On the screen was Judy and next to her, was Nick. This by itself wasn't surprising. He was her partner, they knew this, and they accepted it easily. What was troubling was how she had looked at Nick.

"oh dear." said Bonnie, after the call was over, "I don't even think she knows."

" I think you're right." replied Stu. "But you know, it's always hard to tell when you're in love."

His wife nodded, agreeing. After all it wouldn't be easy, a bunny falling for a fox. Judy would figure it out in time and she fully expected a very confused phone call when she did. But for now Bonnie contented herself with the fact that Judy had found a very loyal friend and hoped dearly that when her daughter did realize her feelings, that Nick had the decency to return them.

Then she chuckled because who would be silly enough not to? That, she thought, would be a very dumb fox indeed.

Hello everyone :) I know it's a very short chapter and I apologize, but the next chapter will be much longer I promise. I'm just getting a feel for things and planning out how the rest of the story will go. Please review! I really want to know what ya'll think.

cheers!
