Disclaimer: no I don't own DBZ. If I did, I would destroy DBGT and re-create it. If you wouldn't do the same, you're an idiot. Just kidding…or am I?

DS: Raditz comes back to life in this fiction. Blood, cussing, demons, super saiyan beat downs, doesn't really revolve around main characters for some time. Whole lots of junk. Enjoy. Edited November 22, 2005

Wow lol

It's been quite some time. About 15 years! but I need the writing practice so I might as well see if I can knock the dust off of this and make it better.

Welcome back, Raditz!

Prelude

"Your wish has been granted! Farewell!"

The booming voice of a massive, jade hued dragon amplifies through the overcast atmosphere. The monster, though as huge as several skyscrapers, floats in the sky, hanging there as if weightless, like a bubble. Its head rears back, scarlet gaze focused higher still, its long, snakelike form writhing and weaving in and out of the swirl of murky blue clouds which envelop it.

The enormous reptile, previously moving having an almost sluggish grace now launches itself towards the darkened sky at a furious pace, undulating as it begins racing towards the heavens with its two pronounced whiskers trailing behind its mighty snout. The creature begins to glow with a dazzling golden light, starkly pronounced among the creeping darkness.

As it reaches just beyond the top of the lumbering blanket of clouds, the serpent condenses its impossibly long form into a ball of pure golden light, and with a jarring force and a sharp, eerie whine, explodes into seven glistening amber balls. The orbs quickly scatter in different directions throughout the sky with amazing speed, like glimmering cannonballs.

Below, a figure in an bright orange sleeveless gi looks up at the sight on high, letting out a sigh as he allows his shoulders to drop. His head full of spiky, thick black hair now hangs for a moment, staring at his feet. The clouds begin to part and dissipate, the last of the evidence of the supernatural scene that had just taken place.

Daylight returns to illuminate the vast expanse of wasteland as well as the uniformed man who stands among plateau with sparse blotches of tall, wheat-colored grass. The man wipes his head with a well-defined, muscular forearm smiles at the spectacle.

Though very much alone in this uninhabitable wilderness, he speaks presumably to himself;

"That sight...was meant to be a once in a lifetime thing. People have spent a century looking for just three dragon balls...while I found them all in one hour."

This had been true...as there had been entire generations that had scoured the planet for at least one dragon ball, but with no luck. The uniformed man lunges from the great height of the towering pillar and comes to a soft landing on one foot with an uncanny ease, in defiance of gravity, much like the dragon that was before him moments ago.

The others would come soon, he thought to himself. This man, Goku, the strongest warrior in the universe, looks out into the horizon with a childlike smile. Doubtless, his actions would be speculated. There was only a few minutes, he estimated, to prepare. He begins to ponder the reactions of his comrades, though his expression doesn't betray any sense of regret or shame...until he thinks about one person in particular - Chi-Chi, his wife and mother of two of his sons.

"...She's gonna kill me."

Goku sighs once more, scratching the back of his head, already thinking of the lumps he expects to receive on it by her hand. He begins talking once more, imagining the slew of criticism he'll doubtlessly receive.

"But…he is my brother...He's my family too. I want to know him as my brother and not as an enemy. He deserves another chance."

Though choosing to believe this, a lingering thought in the back of Goku's mind wouldn't fade...Perhaps the vile, vicious being he had done battle with so many years ago had been given enough chances already.

'What would he even say to this person he hadn't seen in over two decades?' Goku wondered, and 'What would his brother Raditz have to say? Of course it would be impossible for him to not repent for what his actions, especially now…right?'

The chilling feeling was still there from their first encounter. It remained one of the only moments Goku had tasted mortal fear...driven to it by his own flesh and blood, no less. Raditz had threatened the tranquility of his home, and abducted his only son at the time, who was more precious to him than anything in the world.

Goku sits at the feet of the great pillar, now a bit uncertain and frustrated, but still sporting a smile, albeit a product his own anxiety. He allows his head to rest on the earthen wall to his back as he closes his eyes, trying his best to avoid letting out another sigh. His smile fades as his expresion grows more serious and contemplative.

Breaking his focus is a tiny blue lizard which crawls onto his shoulder, its little pink tongue poking out of its mouth every few moments, black eyes like fine beads staring into Goku's soul as he looks at it in amusement.

"You're right...Enough of that." Goku rises to his feet as the lizard scurries down his pants and back into a hole at the plateau's base, just barely hidden.

There had to be some good that his actions will have brought, Goku silently affirms to himself. There was so much they had missed in each others' lives, so much to tell.

The death of Frieza, the birth of Cell, and the recent but still haunting menace of Buu... He would devote as much of his time telling him about these things, no matter how long or tedious. Goku looks to his left. In the far distance were the Prince of his kind, the long lost Saiyans, Vegeta and his son, Trunks, ahead of the pack as usual. Not far behind the father-son pair were several humans, one of his oldest friends, Krillin, along with Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu. They are led by some other demi-saiyans, his own sons Gohan, and Goten.

The small lizard pokes its head out of the hole to look up at Goku, who appears at this angle to be as giant as the dragon that had manifested and vanished not too long ago, then to the humans in the distance. It had never seen anything without wings fly before. Nevertheless, fearing that they were birds of prey, the lizard gambles with fate, and hurries up, then down into Goku's gi, seemingly without the warrior's attention. Goku can't help but release another sigh.

"Okay. Here we go."

A short time before then…

"DIE, YOU LAP DOGS OF THE SHINIGAMI!"

A well built figure clad in a strange, bronze tiled armor swings a katana shining with a dull vermillion glow at a horde of ghostly foes that surround him. His wild mane also whips around in the air, and at times, wraps around his powerful, chiseled limbs, unguarded by his armor which terminates at the shoulders and hip. With a mighty slash, the warrior vanquishes dozens of these hooded apparitions, with even more of them ascending from the volcanic ground surrounding them. Fountains of magenta tinted flames spout from this very surface a short distance away, bathing the scene in an otherworldly, ghastly light.

The moaning spectres each give foreboding warnings to this warrior, who yields no quarter to their onslaught; "The ultimate weapon, you fool!"..."The living universe is in your palm. Relinquish it!" Each of them, once struck, dissolve, their bodies collapsing into a lingering, dark smoke. Their weapons, spears and sickles, fall with a clatter, eventually vanishing in the same manner as their wielders, leaving behind only the paper seals on their "heads", written in an ominous script.

There seemed to be no end to them as wave after wave fall onto the fighter, manifesting quicker than he is able to cut them down. Some manage to tackle the armored man, pinning him to the ground and attempting to wrest the sword from his grasp...

"Damn it! Go the hell away!"

Overpowering his attackers, the man lets loose a powerful kick that he uses to simultaneously free himself of the assault and using the momentum to spring from his prone position with a flip back onto his feet. The maneuver sends several of the undead flying, yet more soon rush to replace them. The armored figure jumps a great distance away with more of his enemies in pursuit, landing near a crevice full of lava.

As the ghosts all begin to surround him again, the man jumps once more, many feet high above where he stood. The wild-haired man unleashes a volley of dazzling blue orbs of light from his free hand, these balls of energy plunging into the pool of molten matter with a mighty 'fwoosh'. This causes a chain reaction underground, as the surface of the area nearby begins to expand. A mighty roar of fire and pressure being released screams out. Lava bubbles up and bursts from the ground, culminating in a gigantic explosion. On land, all of the assailants on are caught in the blast, a thick cloud of yellow smoke remaining where they once stood.

"I'm already dead! What do you want now?" the hovering armored figure screams down from the air above, with a look of annoyance.

A bigger, taller ghoul, resembling the others, but without a seal on its "head" rises silently from behind this warrior. Its humanoid maw parts, revealing several rotten, darkened teeth and a tongue-less mouth, black like the endless expanse of space as a voice emanates:

"That weapon…"

Alarmed, the fighter dashes away in mid-air, his monkey-like tail instinctively unwrapping from around his waist with its hair on end. A bead of sweat forms on his brow and his expression now becomes one of intrigue as he smirks, assuming a fighting stance as he prepares for battle.

"I could have sworn I killed you alre-"

"That weapon is the great cleaver of the universe. It doesn't belong in the hands of a dead, defeated weakling… We do not want your soul, fool…we need your…"

The spirit raises its gangly, skeletal arms with sickle tightly in hand overhead, preparing to strike. The warrior braces for impact, as the undead horde below begin to replenish in number.

"SWORD!"

As the sickle falls, the curious creature disappears in a wondrous golden flash; the sickle cuts nothing but air, sending a mighty wave and hiss through the sky.

"Raditz...There is nowhere you can go where we shall not follow."

Fountain of lava spring forth once more around the army, illuminating the scene as hundreds more of other smaller reapers appear below, encircling the newly formed crevice. Carefully watching their supposed leader, they raise their spears and sickles, and unite in a terrifying chorus: "AND SO WE SHALL FOLLOW!"

"It shall be ours...RADITZ!"

Shinigami: Lords of death, god of death, etc. in Japanese religion. When said as the Shinigami, it can be inferred that there is more than one lord of death in this universe.
