Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, but the song/ poem is mine.
Speaker's Corner
"Next up we have Ginevra Weasley," the announcer called.
Ginny slowly ascended to the stage, well more like small platform in the corner of the Library. Today was the Hogwarts Coffee House, where Hogwarts artist could display and present their work. In the dull candle lit corner Ginny sat down on the stool and pulled an acoustic guitar onto her lap. She strummed a few cords to make sure the guitar was properly tuned. After she had made all the final adjustments she nervously pulled the microphone stand and microphone to her face.
"Hello, I'm Ginevra Weasley, or more commonly know Ginny or for those who hate me Weaslette. Um, this is my first time on the stage, so please bear with me. This song is called "School Girl's Crush" and I'd like to dedicate it to Harry Potter. If he's not here I'm sure you'll get the message to him."
She began to strum the guitar slowly, with an almost enchanted tone. Then her voice began and a hush went through out the crowd.
I always saw you,
In the corner of your mind,
Huddled there with that lost look.
I observed you from afar,
Never daring to take a step closer,
Or even ask you how you are.
You always looked right through me,
With that warm stare,
But you never noticed I was there.
At this point the tempo began to pick up.
What are you to expect from a famous one,
With his friends to share
Every thought and every emotion.
Who needs me?
I began fall away,
From everything I thought the truth,
You no longer had that glow,
You no longer were my star.
So now I tell you this in closing,
All I was to you was a little girl,
Don't even try to deny,
You never wanted me there.
But I'm telling this to you now,
I know the truth of who you are,
That corner you hide in,
Is the pathetic shelter of your world.
I don't see you anymore,
My love for you is gone,
At this part she spoke the next lines.
Look buddy I've grown up,
Don't mess with me anymore.
Again she began to sing
So stop with the encouraging glances,
And so-called sexy smiles,
You're not what I want,
You never were,
You were just a school girl's crush
You were just a school girl's crush,
And with a final strum.
Just a school girls crush.
As she ended her song the entire audience sat dumbstruck, even Harry Potter who had heard his name in passing, and decided to check it out. No one said a word. Ginny was beginning to take it as a bad sign when she heard clapping from the crowd. In the back standing up was Draco Malfoy clapping like a maniac, why wouldn't he his arch foe just got dissed, But soon may began to rise and applaud the young artist. Although she was amazed seeing her brother Ron applauding the loudest from on top of his chair, Hermione right beside him, only she remained discreetly on the ground. Ginny smiled, she didn't expect this kind of reaction, but hey who was she to complain. Then from the back she heard someone shout, "It's about time you stood up for yourself," What surprised Ginny most of all was that it was Draco Malfoy.
'Well,' she thought. 'This might be the beginning of a new friendship.'
