Exhaustively making his way towards one of the lounges in the company's common room, the silver haired Dragoon Leo let out a small sigh of relief as he sat down and reclined back in a relaxing manner. He had only just returned from a long, arduous trip home after competing in the Grand Melee held in Coerthas. But his moment of respite was short lived however as Leo was soon greeted by a young Miqo'te male.
"Hey, welcome back." The man said cheerfully, a sincere smile could be seen behind the long, curly blond fringe that covered half the Miqo'te's face.
"Laris." Leo greeted as he gave a slight nod, showing no sign of wasting any unnecessary energy or breath.
"You look beat. I guess if you'd chosen to battle for Ishgard rather than Ul'dah like us you'd be in better shape instead of losing so hard." Laris joked, taking a seat on the lounge across from him.
"The battle was nothing, I just had other matters to attend to afterwards." Leo explained.
"Right well you did look good out on the field from what I saw, you were almost as good as me." Laris began. "Still, I'm surprised you didn't turn into an icicle out there since you were half naked instead of wearing those ugly faction uniforms like we were forced to." Leo lifted his shoulders ever so slightly in a brief shrug.
"The cold is nothing to me. Especially when combated with the heat of a battle." Leo replied. Laris lifted a hand to his stubbled chin, rubbing it gently as he pondered to himself.
"It's strange though. I mean, I've only ever seen you head to toe in full plate armour while on the field and now you've switched to basically wearing a metal bikini. What's the deal?" Laris inquired. Leo let out a sigh, knowing deep down that he'd be asked this question by someone eventually.
"It's for training. I need my body to be able to handle any climate I'm forced to battle in. Not only that, it also serves as a catalyst to push myself even further. As a Dragoon I need to be swift and precise in not only my attacks but also my movements. I don't need body armour because I'm not going to allow myself to be struck. As long as I maintain that train of thought, my combat abilities will surely increase. Not to mention the added benefit of being able to move faster and jump higher than before due to the light weight of this gear." Leo finished explaining.
"What about you, you're hardly ever seen wearing armour, let alone a shirt. Don't you choose your gear for a similar reason?" He asked.
"Nope." Laris replied casually.
"No?" Leo asked, raising a brow in confusing.
"I just like wearing what I wear. As long as I look good while I fight that's all that matters. Besides, keeping me alive is what Gaius is for." He answered facetiously. Leo's quizzical expression towards the other man relaxed back into a vacant stare at the ceiling. Although he wasn't certain on the reason up until now, Leo knew not to expect much different from the flamboyant Miqo'te.
"Hey I got an idea!" Laris started. "If you're not gonna dress for battle then you may as well dress to impress. I've got a ton of gear in my room that not only looks great but also exposes my amazing body. You should come get some pointers from me, what do you say?" He asked as he grabbed the tired Hyur by the arm and lifted him from the lounge, not giving him a choice in the matter. Leo, too worn out to complain, accepted his fate for the day and reluctantly followed the Miqo'te who was leading him back upstairs whilst still continuing on about his fashion and appearance.
"Wonderful." Leo sighed to himself sarcastically as he immediately regretted his choice in training attire.
