A/N: So this was inspired by a sudden idea I got from washing dishes. This is the introductory chapter, basically.
Narrator
There is a world where countries are both places and people. This world has a story. A story many do not know. A story of guardians, a gate, and a parallel unverse. The Guardians keep watch over both universes, watching the countries and keeping the universes as seperate as possible. But the guardians can only do so much to keep them apart. Every year, for two weeks at a time, the gate between these universes opens and allows the human countries to cross over and learn aout their counterparts. If the countries are on the wrong side of the gate, they will be taken by the guardians, repremanded, punished, and set down on their side of the gate.
Barely any of them ever cross or even know of the gate's existence. But a few know of the gate or stumble through it. And it is not until they see a different boss or a person who looks just like them in another gender that they realize that they are in a different universe. These few are an issue for The Guardians because there is nothing they can do to the countries until the gates are sealed two weeks later.
But The Guardians are not keeping them apart in vain. There are reasons why the universes are kept apart. There are reasons the Guardians are troubled by these occurances. If two people that are the same country touch each other, a painful shock goes through them. The pain is enough that at least one of them will lose conciousness. Many times, countries from opposite universes become too close or have feelings for one another and it is painful to only see each other for two weeks every year. The Guardians care about the countries and want to protect them. That is the only reason they are so harsh on those that cross through the gate for too long.
This is a story about a courageous few that crossed. Repeatedly. No matter what they faced.
