~*~ I own absolutely nothing that has to do with Gilmore Girls. This is my attempt at Lorelai's past, it's in form of a poem. It tells up to her meeting Luke and everything.~*~
"Love Fades"
As you grew up people told you love can fade
You saw it again in the commercials the hair colour industry made
Of course you shrugged it off saying it couldn't be true
Love will always feel new
You fell in love with a beautiful boy and had a child
But you never did take the official wife title
You loved the father enough to let him go
You wanted him to live his life, that's why you said no
You moved away to start a new life
Never letting your goal out of sight
There were great people in the small town
You realised maybe you could let your guard down
The father calls every once in a while
Hearing his voice still makes you smile
You watch him hurt her as she grows older
With promises being broken over and over
If you wanted to tell the truth
You'd realise he was in fact hurting you too
So you tell him to not even bother
He's still too self-centred to be her father
You saw a guy on day sitting quietly in the park
You asked around and found out his girlfriend broke his heart
The guy you saw is opening a new place called Luke's
You go in, get the best coffee and call him Duke
You know it annoys him so you keep at it for a few years
Then you have a bad day and walk in, in tears
He doesn't laugh at you as you thought he would
Instead he listens to you talk about your day and says you did all you could
That's when it starts, you two slowly become friends
As you do, two hearts finally begin to mend.
