Happiness
A/N: Haven't seen part 2 yet, although I feel like I have. So happy that Neville and Luna became movie canon, because I shipped them ever since Order of the Phoenix came out. Anyway, this is incredibly short, but I just wanted to contribute my version of that scene at the end where they sit together in the Great Hall.
Summary: Neville remembered something Dumbledore had once said, as Luna Lovegood seated herself next to him, and his solemness melted into a smile.
Disclaimer: The beautiful, brilliant angel J.K. Rowling owns these chracters, and I for one, would like to thank her for letting me into this fantastic world. I'll miss you, old friend.

The relief that hung in the air at having won the biggest war the Wizard World had ever seen mingled with tragedy and loss, as students, teachers and parents filled the Great Hall to grieve over those that had not survived the battle. The floor was covered in victims, people who had fought so hard against Voldemort, only to have been plucked out of existence by Death Eaters.
It was tragic, Neville thought to himself, and his frowning elicited winces, due to the wounds that hung from his temples.
He remembered telling Harry that he was going to find Luna and tell her that he was mad for her, but that had never happened. He had seen her in the Great Hall when he'd entered, so he knew he'd have a chance. He just had to collect his thoughts beforehand.
He felt the presence of someone behind him, and tried to shake off his thoughts.
Neville remembered something Dumbledore had once said, as Luna Lovegood seated herself next to him, and his solemness melted into a smile.
She fidgeted a bit, rocking her knees back and forth.
"What is it?" She asked him, cocking her head to the side, staring at him.
"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times," Neville recited, bringing his smiling eyes up to meet hers.
"Dumbledore said that," Luna stated in her whimsical tone, nodding in rhythm with her words.
"You just proved him right," Neville informed her, grasping her hand lightly and holding it between both of his.
"I did?" She inquired.
"There's something I wanted to tell you, and the fact that I haven't yet...it-it made me keep fighting," Neville stammered, the mass of tension that had settled in his heart loosening up a bit.
Her penetrating blue eyes simply gazed up at him inquisitively, and he grinned again.
"I want to kiss you." His confession hadn't come out exactly the way he'd planned. He shut his eyes in mild embarrassment.
"I might not be good at it, but I suppose you could try," he heard her say, and he opened his eyes to see the corners of her mouth pull upwards.
Neville gulped and leaned forward, trying not to let it show that his main concern was actually hitting his target. He resisted sighing happily when their lips met, and instead tried to focus on how soft her lips were, but all of his thoughts evacuated his mind rather hastily.
It was over almost as soon as it had begun, and all the blood quickly rushed to Neville's face as he let out a breathy chuckle. Luna beamed at him, almost in admiration.
He wondered for a moment if she found him heroic. The kiss had proven to him that he was still awkward Neville Longbottom, but that was fine by him.
