Back To December
This is for Ameila333's quote contest.
And is set before Mr Crepsley meets Darren
And vampires celebrate christmas :P
It's been years since Larten left. Arra thought. And I only find this now?
Arra pulled out the brown box with her name, in Larten's hand writing, printed on it out of the hidden cabin. She shook it.
There was something electronic inside. Slightly heavy, full of metal and most probably battery powered.
She opened it up.
There it was, covered in bubblewrap. The most amazing thing she'd ever seen.
A radio.
Arra was almost instantly taken back to a time when she, Larten and Gavner were dancing around in a pub listening to the best music Arra had ever heard.
Country.
She loved the way the different instruments created such a unique sound. The way the guitar's strings sung out each chord.
She pulled the radio out of it's box and noticed an envelope hidden at the bottom of the box.
She opened it and read it out loud.
"Dear Arra, I thought you might like this. I hope that you listen to your country music and sometimes think of me. Love always, Larten."
She unwrapped the radio, pulled up the rabbit ears and turned it on.
Meanwhile...
Larten was laying on the couch of his latest home. A small one bedroom apartment in the middle of some city south of Rome. He'd been here for the last six months.
Visiting the spectacular museums, walking the breath-taking streets and finding the most exclusive clubs and pubs to hang out at.
But even the parties, the quite nor the art could take his thoughts away from Arra. The radio was his next attempt to clear his thoughts but it was just making it worse.
The music reminded him of the time where he, Arra and Gavner went to a party where they got ridiciously drunk and danced around to country music.
Arra's favourite. He thought.
He turned the radio up thinking it could help... But it didn't.
When the next song came on Larten thought... It must be fate.

Back To December
They both thought. Quite ironic considering that was when they split.
Arra remembered it because of the gifts ripped apart and scattered on the floor.
Larten remembered it because of the Christmas tree he tore apart left his hands red and bloody.
They listened. So close together but so far apart.
They both moved in time with the music.
When the chorus came on for the last time they sang along. Belting out the lyrics a half-beat behind.
Arra with tears in her eyes.
Larten's hands clenched into fists.
It hurt to say goodbye...
When the song ended two lines struck them hard.
So this is me swallowing my pride. Standing in front of saying, I'm sorry for that night.
How they both wished they could do just that.
That's it.
Very short I know but the phrase "Short and sweet" came to mind while writing so I decided to go with it.
Hope you liked :)
