"Bilbo... Why?"
The took looked down before sneaking a quick glance upwards, with a small smile.
"It's very simple, thorin."
The king under the mountain huffed, leaning over the railing of erebor. The day was beautiful. Birds sang and people laughed through the vivid sunshine.
"Than explain it to me would you?" Thorin smiled gently, caressing his hobbits cheek.
Bilbo chuckled, rather nervously, in thorins' opinion.
"It all started one spring day, many years back. Well, as you might expect it too. In a hole in the ground, there was a family. Mother, father... And me. Rather too reckless and adventure willing, in others opinions. As a young boy, I would go and seek danger. It was the youth inside of me. When I turned you down, that sent me running down the path, papers flowing behind me. I allowed myself the freedom my soul seeked." A deep breath was drawn from the hobbit.
"I always wondered... Bilbo, when I first saw you, I knew you to be in-capable of such things. And when you were sprinting down that road..." Thorin paused " I wondered what brought you. I always wanted to know why you were the one chosen."
"Well, it's Gandalf. That should explain it in itself."
"No." The king stated, determined." You, my sweet, loving burger. Are the most courageous man I know. You'll park your hobbit feet right at the door of danger and refuse to move them if you set your mind to it. You believe in equilibrium and fairness. And somewhere deep under that pointed hat of his, he knew you would give me my life, home, and family back." Three fingers hooked under bilbos chin, tilting it to look into the mountain kings blue eyes.
"And for that I thank you, my love."
His beard tickled bilbos skin as they kissed. Soft and sweet, enjoying the other, before they separated. Thorin pulled bilbo to his chest, embracing him. Hands snaked around to rest at the base of his neck.
"Thorin."
"Yes?"
He looked up with grateful, affectionate eyes.
"I love you, more than life."
A kiss was placed in the tooks forehead.
"Same to you... My adventurous, handsome hobbit. Same to you..."
